"House Democrats have introduced a number of new gun control measures in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Among the proposals are HR.3962 to ban online ammunition sales, H.R. 4025 requiring gun dealers to report the sale of two or more rifles to the same person in a five-day period, and HR. 4052, which would ban magazines able to hold greater than 10 rounds...."

"...the measure would require the vendor to report any individual sales of more than 1,000 rounds in a five-day period to the U.S. Attorney General."

"...Multiple Firearm Sales Reporting Modernization Act, sponsored by U.S. Rep. Norma Torres, D-Calf., would require FFLs to report the sale of two or more long guns to the same buyer within a five-day period to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

"...This bill is a long-overdue update,” “Our law enforcement agencies need to know if anyone is stocking up on AR-15s and AK-47s.”

“No sportsman or woman needs 30 rounds to kill a deer. It’s shameful that we protect our deer better than we protect our people.”

We all knew it was coming.

They are not going to stop at bump stocks. Emotions are high, let's just hope there's limited traction for all these latest proposals.

This is total BS and goes against the 2nd Amendment.

I hope and pray that the GOP doesn’t cave and if they do that the President vetos it.

Killing off access to ammo is probably the #1 way to undermine the 2nd amendment.
Yes
And it’s been a tactic of the far left since they thought they had no chance of gun control

Right now they’ve been embolden by Vegas. I hope it’s short lived as they’ve shown what they want doesnt work in DC or Chicago. And worse in Australia, Germany and other places that have banned civilians having guns.

These types of bills are submitted on a weekly basis by various members of both houses, so finding one is not terribly unusual. This is why you are in the NRA and talk with your elected reps once in a while.

If you looked at even a portion of all the garbage that gets proposed and goes nowhere your head would spin. There is absolutely no doubt that given the opportunity some people on the hill would take absolutely every weapon and anything that looks like a weapon from the public in an instant. Anyone who says otherwise is either woefully uninformed or telling lies.

Fortunately none of these measures have a chance of passing without Republican support, which they (hopefully) won't have. The particulars of those bills show how out of touch the Democrats are with reality on this kind of stuff. The part that stands out most to me is the section where a vendor would have to report sales of more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition to the Attorney General's Office. I'm sure 1,000 rounds sounds like a motherlode of ammunition to some Democrats, but for many of the folks I spend time with that's just an average purchase. Two guys I know (serious USPSA guys) shoot over 1,000 rounds PER WEEK. I've never routinely shot that much per week, but I do routinely purchase in excess of 1,000 rounds at a time. Heck, if you buy two boxes of bulk 22LR ammo you'll exceed their limits.

requiring gun dealers to report the sale of two or more rifles to the same person in a five-day period

I thought they already did that. My dealer puts my name on a form when I buy more that two two guns in five day period. I know this for a fact. Maybe "rifles" are currently exempt and the Democrats want to change that.

As to online ammo, what good is stopping that going to do? It'll mostly just stop people who own .44 Special, .32 S&W, .41 Magnum or other obscure/semi-obscure chamberings from getting the ammo they need. I suppose there are a few crimes committed with guns that fire these rounds, but not very often. The legislation won't reduce violence, but some politicians want to show their progressive donors they're doing something. I rely on some online ammo sales for odd guns I have.

Let's relax. None of those bills are going anywhere. I'm beginning to have my doubts about whether anything will happen on bump-fire stocks, either.

Thanks. I'm going to cast my vote for Ed Gillespie next month.

I’m going to be traveling so I already voted for him and the rest of the GOP candidates

We need to push for an electoral college for state wide offices
As a refugee from Northern Va I’m sick of paying higher taxes for them to elect murderers and criminals. If that like that crap so much they should have stayed on the other side of the Potomac

Standard operating procedure for the antis. Have a shooting, especially a high profile shooting with multiple victims, and they trot out their tired old anti gun bills, hoping to use emotion to get something passed. Nothing new here.

And we know none of it is going to happen. BS bills like this are introduced and never get to the floor.
Yep.

from ten separate dealers at, let's say a gunshow?
Which is where they'd blubber on about "gun show loopholes" to equally pointless ends.

The posturing of the House would surely enrage the Founders were they brought to our time. John Adams would probably be apoplectic that USC has 53 titles with many with hundreds of subtitles; Title 18 having over 900. I am passing certain he would be appalled to learn that there are jurisdictions where the average citizen is expected to know and obey more than 8000 laws, regulations, ordinances, and codes.

Certain Congressmen--for many years--have had proposed bills locked in drawers on Capitol Hill, which would like to ban many varieties of typical, bolt-action hunting rifles.
It is quite a long list.
But it is seldom mentioned in the Mainstream Media, especially before elections.

The OP has a legitimate concern --but elsewhere, and other times-- these topics have been motivated since 2008 by many AR etc owners who want to sell very over-priced, unwanted Guns, or over-priced Ammo, hoarded after Sandy Hook.
Now it's harder to flip those 7:00 AM boxes of Walmart .22LR ammo. Those Bubbas would Like much more anxiety to exist.
