Birthday gift from pup

Well I wasnt content with the quail we have gotten. This time I have been hitting the darn roosters. Two yesterday and one today that had a hole in the breast I could fit my thumb through. Think I need to let them fly a bit more before I shoot.

Id like to get out durring the week as I want to go out for ducks at the weekend. But most likely cant make it as I will be working late.

What choke are you using? Instead of letting them get farther out why not open up your choke some? Nice pair of birds there.

Nice birds.

I hit one very close with 12ga. full choke and ripped it apart, entrails hanging out before it hit the ground.

My friends dog went to retrieve it, and turned around and scratched dirt onto it.

Careful you don't lose that Beretta in the brush. They're not cheap.

WRT holes in the meat, sometimes they're just luck. I scared up a rooster from a woodpile yesterday and hit it with #4 yesterday as soon as I could get a shot off, and it dropped like a stone. I couldn't find any holes in the breasts. Must have hit it in the head or something. The other day, I was spitting out pellets almost like they were watermelon seeds, and we'd already tried to get the pellets out before cooking the thing. Not much to do, either way.
