I awoke this morning to the distinct sound of a Jet Ranger very low and very slow over my house. At first I thought it might be life flight or something heading into a hospital about 7 miles away so I just ignored it and made my way to the coffee pot.

About 5 minutes later I hear it again and it passes slowly over my house then begins to hover or circle slowly so I went to the window, didn’t see anything, so I walked outside.

It was overcast with a ceiling of about 1000 to 1500 feet and there he was, not more than 100 to 200 feet above the trees with some guy looking out the side.

I stood there for a minute or so looking at him looking at me wondering just what the heck was going on when he (the guy hanging out the copper) waved at me and pointed behind me towards my drive way.

I turned and looked back only to see 5 maybe 7 police cars, two K-9 trucks and a big van with Sheriffs Dept written on it.

I spent 4.5 years working for my local SO as a Deputy first assigned to the jail then patrol, before leaving for greener pastures and more excitement.

Well to make a long story short I went down to the drive way and spoke with a deputy who I know, who told me that some guy had assaulted another deputy on a traffic stop then took a bush bond right through my front yard into the woods behind my house.

They gave me the description of him and said he might be armed and to act accordingly if I see him, which around theses parts means aim for the head.

Spent the morning with my P7M8 IWB and a spare mag in my pocket and watched the State Patrol Chopper dodging the thunderstorms while I sipped coffee and surfed the net.

Wow thats kind of freaky.

When I first read the part about the helicopter I was going to say maybe you should keep your tin foil hat on. Good it turned out ok.

I too would of gone for somthing a bit "bigger" than a P7.

Glad you are safe.

you dont live in WR do you?
i heard about some SWAT incident recently that occurred down there
anyways
ill bet it felt nice to have your "backup" in your hand

Well, I’ve got a couple of 12 gauges close by as well as other various and assorted artillery, but the way my house is laid out and built, without a ladder there is only one way in and one way out of the place and it’s a large all metal door and door frame under the carport, plus my neighbor has five very annoying very loud small dogs who bark if the wind blows the wrong way.

So I wasn’t worried too much about him sneaking up on me, I was more worried about the K-9 officers running him to me, in which case the odds were stacked against him as my driveway had turned into the de facto command post for two Sheriffs Depts. A couple of DNR guys and the GSP.

So I felt very comfy with my trusty German staple gun loaded with Corbons.

BowStreetRunner, I live to the west (a bit) of Macon.

4v50 Gary, Not yet he’s still on the run and according to the fellows I spoke with this morning he’s wanted in several counties for drug related charges.

Orbital-Burn, No.

Keep us posted.

Every now & then they have an escapee from Juvenile Hall (just a few blocks up). Nothing exciting like what you have.

I am surprised that someone hasnt said that they would have thought about going in the house for their SKS, AK, or AR with a boatload of ammo ready to fight WWIII. You always see (in a movie) some sheeple getting blown away because they stared blankly at a chopper full of bad guys.

Hope they find him, and it sounds like you have a good layout of your house.
