Keep it?

So, once you've taken the BG's weapon, you've earned the right to keep it, correct?

Enjoy!

Wonder if he'd just seen "A History of Violence"?

Or "Ronin", for that matter... "You want to lecture me about ambushes? I just ambushed you with a cup of coffee!"

need to get a tacktickle coffee dispenser that upon hitting a dashboard panic button ejects copious amounts of hot coffee around the vehicle. disabling carjackers. In south africa someguy (name foster comes to mind) took his car and added an extra fule pump and would spray the area around his car with fuel mist for a second nad then ignite it. massive fireball but almost instantly gone, safe for those in the car nasty for those out side. i read about it in an old car magazine, but do not find it on the net.

You people are in violation of the 5th ammendment to the Constitution of the unites States of America.

So what caliber is best for carrying a concealed beverage (ccb) ''Grande'' or ''Venti''?
No one in their right mind would carry a "Tall".

But was the cofee concealed? He didn't have it under his jacket. It was in a cofee cup so it was apparent that it was coffee.

Hot coffee = mace for people who haven't given much thought to buying mace?

Seriously though, I was impressed with the story. That's one guy who can think on his feet.

I agree that it is entertaining inasmuch as no one was injured. PTL! However, I do believe too, that we should not be “celebrating” or encouraging people to take such risks. This BG was clearly a novice…probably a first-timer. For fact, he has learned. Now, sorer and wiser, the BG will NOT make this mistake again! To be certain, the BG WILL strike again. Stupid knows no limits and stupid has no common sense to stop before someone gets killed. This was a good read that I hope no one else tries to repeat.
I find it so sad that people think like what is expressed in the above quote. In any such situation as was described there are 4 typical reactions that each of us can have. These are fight, flight, freeze or comply. Note the last is usually not ever mentioned by the psychologists and other experts when discussing our reactions to a threat (mostly because they have never really been there and done that and maybe because I am the first person I have ever heard of who has offered up these initial "4" reactions to a threat). Yet it (compliance) is a reaction that many psychologists and LE "experts" say we should have. The sad thing about it is that when you comply to a bad guy you are then at his/her mercy. The bad guy has you exactly where he or she wants you, unless that is dead, and if you are compling then you are in the mode whereby it is probably easiest to kill you (you may think that freeze would make it easier but ot necessarily as freezing can actually throw a bad guy off more - not that I recommend freezing in most situations though).

Doc, would you tell one of your young children (supposing you have any) to comply with someone who grabs them, throws them into a car and drives off with them. A large percentage of kidnapped children, who are kidnapped by peodophiles, are killed. Hopwever, if the child immediately fights back, a very high percentage (of those we know about) get away. Would you tell your woman to comply to the point where the rapist penetrates her so uch so as to make the rapist enjoy it. Compliance even to the extreme does not insure your safety - anything such as the twisted paranoid thoughts of a perpetrator, that you may later be a witness, can cause the bad guy to squeeze one off or to otherwise harm the victim.

Fighting back is often the thing to do. Of course, you may want to wait a bit to pick your moment depending on the situation but, waiting can sometimes be fatal. If you have the chance to grab a gun, blind side a bad guy, bite off his nose, kick him in the balls, hit her square in the face with a tire iron, scald them with very hot liquid WHEN YOUR LIFE IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER (I think you get the picture) then I would say you should opt to go for it. Waiting may give you a false sense of security and may place you into the Stockholm Syndrome frame of mind even though the bad guy may not be in the same frame of mind.

You said we should not encourage people to take such risks - are you encouraging them to take the risk that compliance ultimately will not be met with their own death at the hands of the bad guy? Don't bet on it.

Best regards,
Glenn B

That's a great story.

Perhaps I'll start getting hot coffee instead of the iced ones I get most frequently. Not too sure what effect an iced frappucino would have on a thief...

Does this mean McDonalds is gonna have another "hot coffee" lawsuit on their hands? :)
No maybe whitehen or the gas station.
Are the police considering charges now that the man was in possession of a stolen gun?
Great story.:fire:
