Check out the tanto my sensei gave as a present for passing black belt. She pushed me for seven years, but I finally passed muster for black belt candidacy in Shotokan karate.

I wish I had started when I was younger, but I'm just thankful for the opportunity to train in this art. I love karate for so many reasons: cardio, strength, flexibility, discipline, focus, stress relief, and many more.

The karateka gave her a katana as a going away present. I hope to be able to post a pic of that sword shortly.

Cheers!

Myself with tanto; sensei with katana. I can't believe people used to actually fight with these things. Wow. I know, love and trust my sensei completely, but when we struck this pose, that view was nonetheless intimidating.

Congrats on getting your Black Belt! The tanto is a truly awesome gift from your sensei!

I got mine in 88, Now Im too old and infirm to do anything but the most basic moves but I cherish the memory of the journey.

congrats

I hope im able to perform karate in some sense for the rest of my life. I know there are many martial artists on this forum. I am interested to know how many still keep up with their art after getting a black belt. If a black belt is just the beginning.....

Very nice, congratulations.

A black belt means you're a serious beginner. :)
