Blade Types, Sheepsfoot?

There are a few Japanese style kitchen knives with Sheepsfoot shaped blades. Examples include the Kurimuki, some styles of Nakiri, and some styles of Usuba. The Nakiri in particular is used on a cutting board, as is the Usuba. The Kurimuki is a smaller 2-3 inch long blade but could be used with the tip on the cutting board. A Sheepsfoot or Wharnecliffe also work well as a steak knife where only the tip touches the plate.
