I bought a nice Smith Mod 64 that has a scarred up top strap. I am thinking about sandblasting the top strap and barrel rib only so they match. I don't have a blast cabinet and will use a spot blaster with fine sand and lower pressure. The area I am doing is maybe 3/4"X7" all told. Any else done this? Recommendations?

Yup. Works well enough. But for the cost of paying someone to do it, it's often not worth the time or energy.

Get some neoprene stick on bow padding to mask off what you don't want blasted.

I do it often for customers. Remove cylinder, take the sights off, tape off and blast. I use masking tape to mask off everything but the top strap.

If its dinged up or gouged in any way some light polishing with fine paper and a rubber sanding block will make the bead blasting that much smoother.
