Blemished guns

Enjoy your new gun👍

My LGS has stocked several new COLT revolvers that are factory blemished. If you are going to use the gun spend the savings on ammo.

If your into safe queens then don't buy the blem. Heck you probably won't even know if the gun actually works😁. I know I'm being bad again 🙄...

If it's going to be a hunting or knock around gun and the blem is cosmetic go for it. I have a couple PSA blem lowers and there is just a small discoloration of the finish that you really have to look for to see. Look at it like this, if it's already got a scratch you don't have to worry about getting another one on it

Blemished lower from PSA. Does that count? And I couldn't find the blemish.

I'm with @WisBorn. If you're buying a shooter, go for it. A blem is probably an indicator that the gun has soul.
I got a 3pk of Blems from them and the trigger pins were a PITA to install... Of course I'm Murphy's Law Personified so take that with a grain of salt...

The only blemished new gun parts I've purchased have been uppers and lowers from PSA with no visual indications of why they were blemished. My theory is they pick the ones off the line that don't color match the rest of the lot and sell them as blems, because I haven't been able to find any manufacturing or finish flaws.

I actively look for the blems in just about anything I intend to use, guns included. Scratch and dent toolbox, marked down from $13000 to $6K, yeah I'll take it. Dryer? By the time my wife turns it into a laundry table, we won't see that scratch on the lid. 50 cents off Progresso soup? I ain't eating the can so that dent doesn't bother me.
I have picked up some good deals on new guns because they'd gotten a scratch somewhere...but I've done better on discontinued/closeouts.

I picked up a new Remington Wingmaster from Walmart dirt cheap years ago. They had lost the box, papers, and extra choke tubes. Just got the shotgun. It was right at 1/2 the normal price.
Walmart… when they knock a price off a gun, it’s like your 21st birthday. They really knock you out!

2 of my most memorable Walmart buy.

1: 870 Express Black Friday Sale - $169
I still shoot that shotgun as good as my Beretta’s. Best Gun Ever

2: Marlin Model 60 - $80-ish… memorable because I ask sales guys, What that SKS over there for $129. Sales Guy “Just some Cheap Russian pot metal rifle that will probably blow up if you shoot it”

No I haven't. Of over 100 guns I've owned, only 14 that I can think of have been new. I prefer to deal in used. I hope your new gun suits your fancy though!

My first AR has a PSA blem lower, it was almost impossible to find the blem, unless I had a super bright light shining on it, and there was a tiny little, about the size of a pinhead, shiny spot on it. I did more than that just messing around with it before I test fired it.

I buy used guns at good prices sometimes. Most show wear or scratches.
But I don't own any safe queens.
I've bought blemish parts before.
Couple of my AR triggers are Geissele blemish.

Dan Wesson 7445 stainless with black finish direct from Dan Wesson. It has a pin hole in the frame casting in a none load bearing area. You have to be looking for it to find it. I suspect it was the last 7445 to leave DW.

I bought a blem Anderson AR years ago, it shot fine. I never even found the blemish, I eventually sold it. I would t be scared to buy a blem, I also would expect it to have cosmetic… well, blemishes.

Anyone ever purchase a factory blem? Found one for $175-200 off and all they will tell me is either discoloration in camo/cerakote or scratched. Its a hunting gun so it gonna get scratched.
When Ithaca first came out with their Mag-10 autoloader I got one at cost to the wholesaler, a big discount. A factory rep had one as a sample that had a very small white spot in the bluing on the underside of the barrel from a spot of something on the metal as it went into the bluing tank. He sold the sample gun to me for a 40% discount. It was unfired.
