Fact: I know absolutely nothing about Glocks, so I apologize in advance if this comes out sounding foolish.

Can you put a Glock 35 slide on a Glock 27 frame without doing major modifications?

There has reportedly been a recent deterioration of long wolf slide quality.

I have in the past purchased several years ago a LW barrel was pleased with it.

No sir. several parts including the recoil spring are different.

The 35 has the same frame as the G22 & G24.
Also the G17L, G34, G17 but they have different (9mm) ejectors.

If you don't like the grip size there are several places that offer grip reductions, reshaping the backstrap etc, they may be able to shorten the grip size down to a G27 but I'm not sure about the fwd rail(dustcover) area. Just a guess I think it is very unlikely they will slim the down to the size of a G27 on both ends.

I have seen them cut down to the size of a G23 (compact or middle size gun) in the grip area.

The locking lugs/block are different.

The G19/26 share the same locking lugs/block. You can put a G19 barrel in a G26. Probably the complete slide, too, but with a gap in the dust cover. Not 100% positive on that, so don't take my word for it.

The G35/17/17L share the same locking lugs/block/frame.

You can't put a G17/35/17L barrel or slide on a G19 or G26/27. It would fit, but the barrel lugs wouldn't fit the locking block, correctly. IIRC, I read about someone who tried it, and the slide locked back after the first shot, and it needed to be hammered loose.

Your going about this the wrong way. Backwards.

Buy the Glock 35, then cut the grip frame shorter until Glock 27 magazines fit.

Allthough a 35 with a 27 length grip is going to be one heck of an odd ball pistol.
