I was cleaning my gas port today after only firing about 40 rounds yesterday. I usually use gun scrubber and then scrub it out with a bronze brush. Today, I noticed some blue/green residue inside there. Is this rust? I didnt get it wet. Did it rust because of some gun scrubber residue left inside? After I saw this, I scrubbed that and the carbon out with a toothbrush, bronze bore brush and hoppes 9 solvent (RBC). It appears to have worked. Although I couldnt get all of the carbon residue off. I did a good job cleaning the gas port and the gas tube, but there is definatly still carbon in there that I just cannot get out. Should I worry about that? Any help, again, will be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking about this. Could the blue/green residue be copper fouling? It makes sense as copper turns green over time. But Im still lost on what it is and what to do. And if hoppes 9 is enough to do it.

Also, this may have something to do with the increased recoil I felt at the range the other day. The SKS usually has a pleasent kick to it, this time it was considerably rougher. Should I get some copper remover, rust prevention and get ALL the carbon residue out of the gun's gas port?

Probably just hoppes getting onto small amounts of copper that get vaporized and works up into the gas system.
