I think we had a thread of the initial absurdity of the AGs claiming LC ammunition was used in mass shootings.

I don't think anyone believes that the Fed would close down a principal military small arms ammo plant.

Finally, the operator of the ammunition plants have contracts incorporating sales of over production or out of spec ammo so the Fed can't just violate the terms of the operator's contract.

"Letters" are posturing, not actions.

oh yeah , right. no no has ever, ever-ever violated a contract b4

remember, your wood burning pizza oven ist verboten to some...washers...dryers...refrigerator, A/C.... hmm....

seems a contract ''adjustment'' would be small potatoes in comparison...

HWGA...can I buy a vowel...I'd like to solve the puzzle Alex...

(HWGA here we go again haha)

I edited my post to more accurately reflect the headline. They say shutter then also say end commercial sales.
This would make a big crater in ammo supplies for sporting shooters if it ever happened.
To ask for an end of civilian sales from LCAAP shows a failure to understand why the Ammunition plant exists as an GOCO facility.

The reason the ammunition plants are government owned-contractor operated facilities and not just government owned facilities is because after WW2 in was understood that during peace-time government orders of military ammunition would not be sufficient to maintain profitable operation, and they would fail to be maintained for high volume production in the event of war. By having the plants contractor operated, the contractor is free to use the production machinery to produce civilian ammunition, and use the profits from these sales to invest in maintenance and upgrades to the plant.

At least that is one thing the idiots that run this state didn't come up with this year. Don't worry though as there are enough bad bills currently in front of the legislature to fill a good sized trash can and that is exactly where they all belong. In only 7 years this state has gone from being a pretty nice place to live to attempting to be Californian Far East and doing a good job of getting it done.

They'll just tax us more to keep them in the black during non-war times.

The above made sense when we used to not be under tyranny, but under this soft-tyranny we have today; everyone's back pockets/retirement/savings is in reach of the Feds to use/abuse at their discretion, be it in taxation, or inflation theft.

......well, apparently somebody does.

There are so many preposterous proposals made by congressmen and representatives, it just boggles the mind. We just don't hear of them because they never make it very far.

Why should privately owned ammo manufacturers have to compete with a government owned plant in the first place?

The government owns the land and buildings but doesn't make the ammo

If commercial sales are halted, government purchases don't pay to keep the lights on..so it gets mothballed until the next military ammo emergency? Good luck getting those employees to come back and run the thing, on equipment that's been sitting idle with zero maintenance. Never seen so many people willing to cut off their nose to spite their face.

Once any manufacturing line closes, it never comes back w/o incredible expense and interminable delay.
And it never really comes back even then, since the workers -- and worker memories -- are often forever lost.

They want mass shooters to use more effective ammo than M193 or M855?

A mass shooter can max out a Visa card buying premium ammo knowing he/she ain't gonna pay the bill.

The law of unintended consequences.

Just a reminder that the anties would love to shut down all ammo/gun production and destroy all that already exists.

It's no secret, but we do need to focus attention on plans that have a chance.
