"THEY lost one vote"? I thought that was US?!?!

Norton,

from what I've seen in the news, James Brochin (D-Bal. Co.) has been transferred over to the Education, Health & Environmental Affairs senate committee due to the MD malpractice legislation fight between Gov. Bob and the shameless crackpots in the MD Senate.

http://www.gazette.net/200446/weekend/a_section/245454-1.html

Brochin was supposedly being replaced by Norman R. Stone (D-Dundalk).

I thought Brochin voted against the AWB? Am I all wrong about the vote, and the switch? :uhoh:

K-Romulus,

You are correct, but apparently Stone is more in our court than Brochin, therefore giving us a clear majority. Giannetti has said that he will stand by his vote from last year.

I was not at the meeting with Nancy Jacobs last week, but Spot77 was.....maybe he can elaborate.

Correct, Senator Stone is way more pro 2A than Brochin, who was a moderate at best (Although I harbor no ill will to him for being "moderate", or even a Democrat  for that matter - at least he cast the right vote last year)

I asked the same question when I heard Brochin was getting moved. Steve Dirlik (Republican Central Committee - Monkey County) gave me the scoop and a little research confirmed it.

Must be tough though - being a Democrat in Dundalk.

And yes Gianetti will vote the same way again unless something DRAMATIC happens. Quote from the Senator, "I can't change my vote now, I'll look like an ass".

Gianetti took A LOT of heat for us last year - nasty attacks from Barrett and the Troll Squad.

I'm looking better and better for a little protest in Anti territory. Let's take the fight TO the enemy.

SUGGESTED minimum contribution...
Does this mean that we can all show up, eat the food and not contribute anything? Now, that would really piss some liberals off.

God bless y'all and good luck...

its like night and day down here ( I moved from Reisterstown, MD to Birmingham, AL 10/31).

Keep up the good fight - I keep tabs on my home of 30+ years!.

Spot77 - hope that P97 is treatin' you right!

Girlwithagun,

Excellent idea.....for those of you who know me, maybe I do need to make this event......I could probably put away enough food to make a dent in their budget for the next year

Heck, the Barrett/Gunn creature may even have to take a cut in her $32,000 salary as a professional lobbyist if I can get good and hungry before I go :p

Hmmmm, not a bad idea.

Of course they probably have a scanner at the door to detect the faintest hint of gunpowder residue or something.

Greyhound, that P97 has become my FAVORITE gun. I still shoot it's little brother (for economical reasons), but my other handguns are growing mold in the safe.

Yup, I'm a diehard .45 man now.

balance of power....

i don't know what ehrlich is up to, but he's given some important jobs to legislators that were PG in the last couple months. one woman went on some commitee on education, some position where she gets a day job; :uhoh: & Alex Mooney from WM has also gone elsewhere in the state gov't. i hope these positions will be filled by other PG legislators during the interim. :scrutiny:

ya know a hundred folkes with "Cas Who?" signs there, might put a damper on the evening for ole Leah.

It might also make Senator Garagiola quake

Thats his legislative backyard

One problem fer me.
That night is orthodox christmas eve...
I can supply picket signs.

How about some signs that say "Who is Gail Gunn....and why does she live with Leah Barrett's husband?"

Mooney hasn't gone anywhere. At least a couple days ago or last week he was talking about a couple bills he wants to introduce including one (it gets fuzzy here bcause this is in the Frederick Post) that allows travelers carrying concealed with a CCW to continue on their trip through MD without having to do the border gun shuffle.

Greetings, fellow travelers of THR. I was pointed towards this thread, and joined just so I could post on it. :)

If you are planning on protesting, could you send me an email, so we can coordinate? You can either send to [email protected] or visit http://www.marylandshallissue.org/ and click on the 'current action' tab, and email Jay. Please visit the shall issue website in any event.

If any of you post on glocktalk or ar15.com, I post under the same screen names on those boards, too.

You people who live here have far more patience than I.

I'm down here contracting, doing the hotel thing, and I simply cannot believe that anyone would actually wish to "live" here. Traffic, which doesn't affect me, crowded "living" conditions, excessive prices for housing, taxes, PC, ect, the whole place makes no sense to me.

Still, it's not my probem or life, I'm only here to work, read, for the money, and I spend that at home whenever possible.

That said, after being in place a bit, I've had a chance to think on the "snipers".

It had to have been horrible: not only do you not have any chance at all to protect yourself, but none of your fellow residents could have done anything either! You're absolutely without any defense at all, and this in a place where I see more police in a two mile trip to work on any given day than I see at home in months...

As in flying, where you really depend on the fact that 9/11 happened only once, I'm stuck playing the odds, which aren't all that bad given that I do work, hotel, and the grocery (the latter at 6 AM on Saturday's: I'm an early bird), and that's about it. But I'll not have my wife down for a visit: some things are too important to be bet on probability.

Anyway, given that the current project doesn't explode too fast, I might be able to provide a warm body, if an unarmed, non local voter type, given a weekend picket, and given that I'm not escaping to the real world that weekend.

:uhoh:

It'd be a pleasure to meet you and to have you raise cain with us.

As for the sniper thing, regardless of government approval, rest assured that MANY people chose to be able to defend themselves in public.

Hey....as the line goes, Concealed Means CONCEALED.

As a side note, what kind of contracting are you doing?

Advocates for sensible gun laws are out-funded and out-organized

So are advocates of man-boy love, slavery, segregation, and many other sick ideas ... the reason for this is not because a bunch of evil white capitalists are out there tricking people but because those ideas are wrong and people don't want them.

"Greyhound, that P97 has become my FAVORITE gun. I still shoot it's little brother (for economical reasons), but my other handguns are growing mold in the safe."

Spot -

Dang I miss that sucker - esp. since I blew the money on a SKS as opposed to saving it for a Alabama CCW gun! :)

Of course, I went ahead and bought a S&W 642 with a bit o' the house settlement $$ once I got here (thanks again AlaDan). Think I'll get a Springfield .45 Mil Spec to take its place once I find a job.

Good luck once again to everybody up there! Figures you might get shall issue once I move. :) (Intersting fact for those that don't know - Alabama is techically "may issue" - its up to the sheriff - but any resemblence between AL "may issue" and MD "may issue" is in the words themselves. That said, in Jefferson Co. I do have to have 6 mos residency before getting CCW [called 'Pistol Permit' here]).

excessive prices for housing, taxes, PC, ect, the whole place makes no sense to me.

You should have seen Wisconsin. My house was 1/2 the value of the one I have now but the taxes were double my exixting tax assessment. It's all a matter of perspective.

I'll be there, and there's a bunch of people from the MDShallIssue group coming.

If you want to talk about nuts, the prices for townhouses out here in Aberdeen (~15 miles from Baltimore, quiet area near the Proving Grounds) go up $5000 per MONTH. I about crapped myself when I saw what my fellow just-hired coworker's (we both graduated in May) townhouse would cost if her dad hadnt known the builder and gotten her a great deal. :what:

Kharn

Townhouses are almost always more expensive than regular houses. Dunno why, but they are in Maryland.

I lived in Aberdeen for a couple of years, it was a nice area. It reminded me a lot of Western PA. In the end, that was its downfall because we moved back there. lol
