I'm pleased. Very, very pleased. Also, it concealed well (with the stock and carrier) under a USN CPO shirt. Not a soul noticed. :D

Most concealed carry laws limit what may be carried to weapons that are "normally" considered as concealable. Carrying this in it's stock may be in "violation".
That said , really nice pistol, I almost bought a Chinese .45acp Mauser, but it was a copy. Enjoy yours, I'll add one to the collection... someday.

I'm fine carrying this in CO, thanks for the concern.

I've now got my eyes on a Shansei .45 and a .30 Luger P08 someday. :)

My neighbor produced one of those from his garage the other day, and asked me where he could find ammunition. This probably isn't the place for a .30 Mauser vs. 7.62x25 debate, but what should I tell him to feed it, and where to find it?

BTW, your C96 is beautiful!

That's a very nice looking Bolo and I'd like to have the original stock. While you don't say, it's clearly been refinished but they are not so common and it's well worth having.

As to the ammo question, I think S&B and Fiocchi both make 7.63 Mauser cartridges. I'd be hesitant to use surplus 7.62 Tokarev cartridges.

I have both Prvi and Finn surplus 7.63 ammo, it's an online deal.

Yes, it's absolutely been refinished - I couldn't afford, nor would I shoot or carry, an original in this condition. Even though it wouldn't have come with such a stock originally, I like it. :)

What is the exception again for the C96 to have the shoulder stock? That would normally be a SBR, but isn't there a loophole for the C96?

PTK, if you would be so kind; do you have a preferred online retailer with stock?

Thanks in advance.
Yes: MidwayUSA, buy the Prvi. :)

On the BATFE's site, there is a list of exemptions to the NFA for C&R purposes. The C96 using a Mauser rollmarked or other original stock is exempt. :)

Dr.Rob,

For you to say that, I'm honored. We need to hit the range some time - bring your Luger and some ammo and I'll bring this and some ammo. ;)

I may be relatively young, but I'm an old-school sort of guy. People tell me I'm stuck somewhere in the early 1900s...

Very nice! I Want one! Was the wood carving something you had done?

I'm almost afraid to ask but what does something like that set you back?

Who needs evil black rifles and plastic Glocks ... if you can have
a C96 with a stock like that!

Awesome.

All I can say is: I hate you!

Do Want!!!!

Re: 7.62TT through a C96. Do not do this! The 7.62TT cartridge is loaded much hotter then the 7.63 Mauser. The effect is similar to that of running full house .357 magnum loads through a .38spl. Yes you can do it. No it will not be a pretty sight when the smoke settles.
