My dad had one in .222, it had the worst trigger I've ever pulled, felt like 10 pounds pull and an inch of travel before it fired. We had a Coast to Coast store in my home town in Iowa back in the late 50's and early 60's, I bought my first rifle there, a .22lr.

Add me to the list of folks thanking you for that awesome link to leeroysramblings.com! Lots of great info there!

I had a 340 BC in 222. Bad trigger. Poor accuracy. Floppy bolt. Mine had a side mounted scope. I never could love it. I believe I sold it for $300 though. But that was back before all th Tupperware guns got pretty good and the public accepted them.

Your all welcome. Thats a heck of a site isn't it? First time I stumbled on it I was ready to go to bed. Didn't realize how long I was on it until the 6 AM alarm went off. I'm not sure but I think he's involved with Wisners or Widners shooting supply.

I have both the Stevens and Savage version of this bolt rifle, there not graceful looking but they get the job done. I handload for mine using 110 gr roundnose jacketed bullet, makes for a light recoil gun you can use for varmints. An underrated rifle for the snobs to attack, wish I had one when growing up in Illinois.

ive had two or three 340's over the years in 30-30. the nicest one I had was shot often.

very accurate with perfect functioning.

I added a side scope mount and a 4x burris shotgun scope. I really wish I still had it but a buddy was wanting a deer gun for his young son.

A bolt action 30-30 doesn’t fit any need or fill any niche for me that I could possibly think of. If someone gave me one I’d carve “King Kamehameha Commemorative Edition” on the stock and try to sell it to LoonWulf.
