Bond Arms

So the .32 ACP fits the .327 Federal Magnum barrel, more or less. It should not slide down the chamber as it has enough rim to prevent that, but having a thinner rim (thickness, not width) it does sit lower in the breech. Here I have a .32 ACP and a .32 S&W Long chambered, both PPU ammo. I am trying to hold down the extractor, which is no easy task with the stiff spring on it. Also, the extractor has enough play that it will not extract the ACP round and you will have to push it to one side to clear the round coming out of the chamber. An appropriately sized dowel will be useful for extraction and I carry a couple sizes in my range bag.

Tell me about your Stinger models?
The Stinger models have been out for awhile now. And I am wondering what the THR members/enablers thought about there Stingers???
I REALLY like my Stinger in 38. It is the aluminum one, not the steel RS. I wanted it light and thin, which is what they deliver with this model. Very well made (as Bond stuff is), nice that it came with thin and thick grips which was a nice touch.

Took a while for me to find it but Bucksnort got some in and I jumped on it. Bucksnort is also a great shop to do business with. Then, I got it in the window for the $50 rebate which I didn't even know about when I bought it, so that was really icing on the cake. But wait, there is more :) I got the rebate 7 days after I filled out the form with Bond, not 3mns (or not at all) like a lot of rebates which really impressed me.

Also, I pinged them about a Stinger barrel in 327, which may or may not happen, but that answer was near real time rather than weeks to get back to me. It would be a bonus for me but not a deal breaker as 38 is what I really wanted it in. One downside I guess to the Stinger line is that the barrels and grips are not the same as the other things in their lineup. Even between the Stinger and Stinger RS, the barrels don't swap between the 2 models. So, if you want a lot of barrels you may want to go with another model from them. Looks like the Stinger is 380, 9mm, and 38. Just looked and 327 is available for them now for the Stinger RS. So, hope they make some for the Stinger.

So, for me, the Stinger in 38 is excellent! I'm now likely to order one of their Bullpups from Bucksnort as I was so impressed the entire experience.

aaaa,
Let us know how it goes with those 32acps. If they do make a Stinger barrel in 327 I will likely stick to Longs in it or maybe mags for plinking. It may never see real 327's.

Or, they could make a 32mag barrel for the Stinger. That would also make me happy. With S&W putting out that Lipsey J frame recently maybe that round will get more love.

DA would be a very different firearm. I would bet that they have looked at it over the years though. High Standard (I think that is write) did them years ago but I think 22mag was as big as they went, but I would not bet on that.

Yes, would be sweet if Bond did one though.

Yep, I recently purchased a High Standard derringer in .22 Mag. Double action. Very nice gun and top break. But it is tough to hang onto as you hardly get even a finger on the grip, it is so small.

Tested out the .327 Federal Magnum barrel yesterday. Was a ton of fun, as a Bond always is. I shot the .357 Magnums and wow are they stout! Sting your hand with those. The .32 H&R Magnums were way milder but still pretty nice, maybe round about like some .38 Specials ammo. The .32 S&W longs were pretty mild and oddly the .32 ACP were too. In fact, there did not seem to be any difference in recoil or noise level between the .32 S&W Long and the .32 ACP. I was expecting the ACPs to have a bit more to them. Both the 32 S&W Long and the .32 ACP were PPU brand. The ACP should be about 1/3 more pressure and would think I should have noticed, but maybe because the barrel is a bit wider than a true .32 ACP barrel it could have been losing some pressure that way.

Also, loading the .32 ACP I had to be careful to not slide them in too far because if they got past the ejector it would sometimes catch and prevent the barrel from closing. If I were going to run only .32 ACPs I probably would remove the ejector. I had to use my wood dowel to extract often.

I was able to snag a 3 inch barrel Cowboy Defender in 45/410 for a good price. Haven't had a chance to get to the range or buy ammo for it yet, though. Can anyone comment on how the recoil is with light .45 colt cowboy action loads (for instance, maybe a 200 gr bullet at 650fps)? Just wondering what to expect. The gun is only 19oz so i'm thinking I will feel it a little. It recoil comparable to a lightweight .38 snubbie? I don't really have any plans to load it with 410 or with heavy 45 colt loads.

I haven't shot one in 45LC, but I have a 45ACP. It doesn't give me that punch in the web of the hand like an airweight 38. It's enough muzzle flip to be fun, though.

I had some low recoil .45 Colt ammo from Cavalry Ammunition that was 180 grain and it was sweet shooting, really mild. Sadly, that company went out of business. I found a place, Choice Ammunition, that has some .45 Colt with pretty low velocity (450, 460 fps) that I think should also be low recoil, but haven't tried it yet. Regular .45 Colt is pretty stout and beats up my hand with the Bond.

Lighter loaded .45 colt is my favorite round in mine. So much so that I bought a dedicated .45 colt barrel (as opposed to .45/.410). It is a 4.25 inch barrel, plus I have extended grips, so factor that in.

The lighter loads have enough recoil to put a grin on your face, but I don't really have a limit on how many rounds my hand can tolerate. The grip shape makes it hard to compare to a snubnose revolver, but probably not far off recoil wise. The classic 250 grain at about 750fps starts to get a little heavier but still surprisingly manageable. I haven't tried anything with more energy than that. I don't have a need to and expect it would be quite unpleasant unless you are into that sort of thing.
