I've always prefer Pro Shot cleaning brushes, but lately they have been coming apart after a few uses  So then I tried Kleen Bore with the same result :fire: Dang these things used to last longer, I still use Hoppes #9 . Has anyone else seen a drop in brush life ?

I use bronze bristle and core brushes, either Tipton or the ones by Sinclair, and nylon bristle + bronze core brushes by Montana Xtreme.

I get good life out of my brushes using Butch's or Montana Xtreme solvents. I get extended life if I dip the brushes in isopropyl alcohol or spray them down with brake cleaner right after use.

I gave up on brushes

I gave up on brushes when I discovered the excellent outcomes with J-B non-embedding bore cleaning compound. I give a quick shot of Gunscrub spray cleaner; pass an oil and J-B saturated patch wrapped around a stiff plastic bristle brush through the bore 3 to 5 times; then a last spray for Gunscrub spray. Done, finished and absolutely no residual grim or copper. I used to labor for 10 minutes per cleaning. I'll never go back to copper/brass bristle brushes. Why did I switch? Simple, as of late, I was getting about 2 cleanings per brush. It's a waste of money.

I'll agree with Doc as I rarely use brushes anymore. But I use the foaming bore cleaner Wipe-Out. Spray it in the barrel, leave it overnight, patch it out. That's it.
