Bore Cleaning Snake

Well I finally broke down and bought a Hoppes Bore Snake for a .22, .223, and it is the biggest piece of garbage I ever bought. It just don't fit, tried shooting it down with CLP, and still no go. Sure don't understand what all the hoopla is about the Bore cleaning snake, if ya can't even get it to start down the bore.

Otis owner here and I really love them. Couldn't comment on what's going on with your Hoppes bore snake. Have you tried an Otis cleaning kit?

The first time is always a bit tough. Just be liberal with the solution and firm with pulling it through.

Magnum, I haven't heard of the Otis, is that a bore snake? I have the deluxe Outers cleaning kit, in fact I have two of 'em as the last time I went to a shoot, I forgot mine at home. Plus I have a bunch of older ones that I've accumulated over the years.

You shouldn't have to hook it to your bumper to pull it through. Check the little brass weight, the caliber is marked there. Maybe you received the wrong model in the right package.

I've never had the problem you describe.

Is the weight not even dropping down the bore? Or is your problem with the bristles/body?
