Fella's;

I'm looking for input on the B.O.S.S. system's quirks & problems. I am well grounded in the theory & operation of how it's supposed to work. What I want are the problems, & more importantly, the fixes for the problems.

If you don't have one, or have nothing but praise for the system, please don't respond.

Thank you, 900F

The BOSS system greatly increases noise and may kick up dust/dirt/debris or burn holes in items used as rest or cushions when using a bench. The CR (conventional recoil) attachment will alleviate the above problems. Also, expect to use a tremendous amount of ammunition to find the best sweet spot.

If you handload your ammo, you're going to find it much harder to get the best results, because the BOSS is another factor in the equation.

If you don't handload, then I would echo perryjab's comment.

I have it on my Winchester 70 in 7mm Mag, and I don't have any problem with my handloads. What the BOSS system does is tune the barrel oscillations so that the bullet exits the barrel when the barrel is at the exact same place each and every time. Before the BOSS system, your handloads had to be tweaked to match the barrel. Now, I start below max load and work up slowly until I start to get max load signs, then back off a little. That's maximum velocity/energy for that round. Now you can use the BOSS system to tune your gun to shoot that round as accurately and as fast as it can handle!

:D

I have one on an A Bolt compostie stalker in 300 Win Mag. The recoil using 180 grain bullets at ~3000 fps is less than my 25/06 usnig 100 grianers. The ONLY negative I have is the unbeleivable blast. I have fired EXACTLY 1 shot without hearing protection, at a deer, and thought someone slapped me across the ears as hard as they could, and then some. This is the only time I have ever fired a gun at game and ever remember hearing the noise. This thing HURT bad!! Since then, I hunt with the BOSS CR and use the BOSS for the range only. I think you will like it.

Fella's;

I've had a BOSS for years. I know about the CR & the normal. I know about the blast. I know about tuning the barrel for the load, the sweet spot chart & all that.

What I'm looking for are people who have had real PROBLEMS. Barrel threads cut wrong, wild out-of-the-blue fliers 2 feet off at 50 yards, lock nuts not holding, stuff like that.

And no, I'm not a lawyer & I'm not looking to sue anybody. I'm looking to find out if I'm the only lightning-struck one out there, or is there a body of info that needs to get together.
