OK folks, the rifle will be revealed at the end.....
As it turns out, my dealer had 150$ of my money from a previous deal, but she gives no refunds, so I had to buy through her. She just got some new catalogues from distributors, and I basically had the choices we've discussed before, namely a milsurp WW2 rifle, a saiga, any of the single shots, or a cheap used lever action.

The milsurps didn't seem right for me. I am not a historian or a museum curator, and though I respect accuracy, I do not respect ammo prices, ESCPECIALLY for the K31! Most of the other older (?) cartridges, e.g. 8mm are a little too 'wierd' for me.

The lever actions I was choosing from were over my price limit. They were mostly winchester's, new condition in .30-.30, a cartridge which I found out is also INSANELY expensive.

The single shots tugged at me night and day. That Rossi deal for a 223/20ga combo almost got me. As did the survivor thumbhole in 308. In fact teh survivor was my choice, and they were out of stock.

So I picked up a saiga in 223 for 250$. This is a GREAT price considerring 150$ of it was stuck in my dealer's pocket anyway for some while now.

So my 200$ rifle in fact cost me 100$, leaving me money enough to make my hi-cap WASR really really evil, and providing nice amounts of winchester varmint ammo for my new saiga.

This has probably been asked before..... but the most accurate round and scope for my new saiga is??????

Congrats! I've been wanting to get a range report on the Saiga in .223. So get out there and shoot it and report back!

Lesseee, ammo...in my SAR-3 the most accurate "budget" ammo is the PMP "Gazelle" (on the box) ammo. Wolf is the least accurate.

Scopes? Well, if you have the side scope rail, I like my PSO-1'v' Not sure its the best. Its a Russian import.

They make weaver rails which attach to the side mount. Then you can use most anything.

There are also some Red-dots that attach to the side rail, including the Russian Kobra.

If your happy - nuthin else matters. The .223 is a great choice for someone on a budget. Enjoy.

If YOU GUYS don't STOP talking about these great, inexpensive little rifles, you're gonna MAKE me go out and BUY ONE! :cuss:

For some reason that doesn't sound very nice. I mean.. what if you really just want the money?
Anyway, congrats on the new rifle! In my expereince the Barnaul gives the best accuracy of all the commie ammo's available. If you want to spend a much more, try some match grade offerings from Federal. They shoot the best on my AR's.
