This is only my second handgun, my other is a Ruger P89 9mm that I use as a duty weapon for my job as an armored car messenger. I bought it primarily because I wanted a backup gun for on the job and I wanted a weapon I could carry in general that would be small and comfortable.
The fit and finish on this gun is outstanding! Im very pleased. I handled a few compacts at the store, glock, sig 239, some other stuff, and I found that this one was very comfy in my hand as well as just having usefull features, like you can carry it hammer down and fire first round double action OR you can cock n' lock and roll with the safety on. Very versatile! I took it all apart yesterday to clean and de-gunk it (and the mags) and cant believe what a difference from the Chevy Caprice-like Ruger. Its like a compact BMW 3-series in comparison. Even the magazines feel very sturdy with very stiff springs and a large, very stable follower.
I'll be shooting it tomorrow afternoon, I'll post with my thoughts on shooting it when I get home.
I have heard some stuff on CZ forum about cartridges getting stuck going up the feed ramp, and that it was either the feed ramp not being smooth enough or that the mag springs not strong enough. Well the ramp is smooth and the spring is rock solid. I test-racked (is that how you'd say it?) both magazines from full to empty and every single round fed fine. This was after I cleaned it out. I have a feeling a lot of people werent cleaning the magazines before firing the gun. Yikes!
Any recommendations for a ccw holster? Im about 220 lbs with a 38" waist, and I've never carried concealed before so Im sort of in the dark with what will hide this gun well on me. It has to be of the IWB type, I wont be wearing it outside of my pants. What about pocket/ankle hosters, are they any good?
I have a feeling this wont be my last CZ.
Oh yeah, anyone know where I can get full size .40 mags for range use and such? I didnt see any on auction arms or anything.
