At the advice of many members (some in PMs) on this forum I bought a Mossberg Pump: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=504397

I wanted something for hunting and self-defense. So I got a Mossberg 535 ATS Field. Its capable of 3.5", 3" and 2.5" shells and came with a 24" and 28" barrel.

As I just got my XDm-45 I was going to wait for a while but I saw it there for $269.00 and had to take the deal. And as I know that "without pics it didn't happen," here you go:

P.S. I know nothing about how to clean this beast and there was no manual included. Any advice on disassembly would be appreaciated.

Mossbergs are really easy to disassemble. You punch out a pin and the trigger drops out and then the rest of the pieces come out relatively easy. You'll get the hang of it. If you get stuck or all still hesitant, take it to a local smith and ask them to show you.

The most important thing for you to do is to practice a lot with it. I strongly urge you to take proper training classes on how to use a shotgun. Start local and work from there. Yes, the classes will cost as much if not more than the gun but they are toally worth the money.

Thanks Guys. I read the owners' manual on Mossberg's site and it looks complicated. Now, I'm ..... concerned
LOL Like anything, once you know how to do it it is easy, and, it really is. You'll see and be impressed.

Nice gun, set, deal. Great choice.

Congrats on a good choice. I'll make no allusions, I'm a dedicated 870 fan. I hunt with folks who swear by Mossbergs. I consider them to be great weapons in their price range. Shoot it, learn it, and shoot it some more.

Congrats. Great price and great gun.

It has one attribute that gives it a warm place in my heart.

I know my Glock is going to go bang, and that is why I carry it. I know my AR-15 is going to go bang, and that is why I've kept it.

But I know that I know that I know that I know that I KNOW that I KNOW my pump Mossberg 500 is going to go bang. Thousands and thousands of shells through that thing, and never a hint of a whisper of a thought of a single hiccup.

My handguns are always on or around, holstered and ready to go, day or night.

But if there's a stirring of a stranger around, I will go far out of my way, if necessary, to get that shotgun. There are many like it, but that one is mine.

I would be much less emotionally bothered by someone stealing a weapon 3 times its cost than if that comforting hunk of steel was gone.

It makes me smile and be thankful every time I see it in its HD storage spot. Always ready. It speaks to me when I go to bed. Just a few words..."Sleep tight. I got your back."

Go to youtube and you will find a video (or 3) about takedown of the mossy's. It was a big help. You get to see someone do it before you do. They'll show you the "tricks" to make it easy.

At the top of this forum is a "sticky" from Evan Price on how to dis-assemble a Mossberg 500. The guide is a bit on the "whimsical" side, but it covers all you need to know about the take-down of a Mossy 500.

Yes, it IS that easy.

Firstly, I'm JEALOUS - your gun shoots 3.5" shells and mine only shoots 3"!

Secondly, CONGRATULATIONS on your new purchase as it should give you and any family/friends a great shotgun throughout your lifetime and the lifetime(s) of those who will eventually inherit it!

Mossbergs, as you can see, are well-made and you can get parts for them online just about anywhere, including hundreds (if not thousands) of add-on accessories that may tickle your fancy!

They are also totally reliable (unless somehow broken, which goes without saying for any gun), and extremely User-Friendly!

Good luck with your new weapon!

In the boat world it's called two-footitis. In the shotgun world is it called half inchitis?
