Brady Campaign Desperate

yeah

Some beat me to it, but if you should ever get a postage-paid envelope from them you should fill it with lead to make it as heavy as possible.

Another legal option is to make a check that is very heavy. Legally, as long as your bank info, a monetary amount, and your handwritten signature is on it; it is a valid check just like the paper ones in your checkbook. In college, I had a friend who was upset he had to pay some taxes, so he dropped trap right there, took off his underwear, wrote down everything on it and signed it, and mailed it to them. They never got back to him about it asking for alternate forms of payment... Anyway, point is you can have all the info carved into a block of cement and sign it with a sharpie permanent marker. Hand carry it to the nearest Brady Campaign office. Since they ship their checks out to some island for processing, it would cost them far more than the value of the 'check' to process it.

Just ideas.

Wasn't the MMM busted up for playing politics with "tax deductible" contributions? I know the NRA is very capable to keep their legal efforts well separated from their instruction/safety/match efforts for that very reason.

I'm thinking we might have a new target for Jim March. :)

I didn't get the letter. However, it is the highlight of my week to finally read about the OTHER SIDE being on the defensive. It is so nice to be winning, at least for now. It is also great that their money will be wasted on defending (and, hopefully, losing) instead of on advertising to ban our weapons.

Yeah, I got this too....

I emailed them back saying I sent 50 bucks to them at 11250 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA.........chris3

Jack straw beat me to the question...

Why is it tax deductible to go against the NRA but not to give to the NRA????

Someone please explain to me because I'm apparently retarded..

Better than a brick or an envelope of #6 shot or something else they'll just throw out would be a couple of dollars in pennies. It will bust the postage, they can't just ignore them since it may come from some "little kid" and it will also cost more in staff time to deal with than they'd make on it. And you can deduct it from your taxes!

Then send the SAF and NRA a nice big donation!:D

BTW - The best ammount to send to them is $1.55 in pennies since it costs them $4.05 in postage. Don't send a single red cent more if you want to maximize the cost to them for minimum cost to yourself.

I sure hope I get a letter in the mail too! Be kinda fun to help kick-um while they're down.

Just sent $20 to the NRA-ILA last week, looks like I'd better send another this week.

Brady/HCI does not want control: it wants BANS (and money)

Washington D.C.’s long-standing restrictions on handguns
no-new-registrations of handguns since 1976--a de facto ban
A BAN, not control.
this new reading of the Second Amendment
The Standard Model was the standard reading of the Second
Amendment until the 1932 Bonus Army March scared the depression
era government into believing a revolution might be at hand
(the right to keep and bear arms was a basic civil right in
the debates before congress on the 1870 Civil rights Act
for just one example)
Brady Gun Law Defense Fund to save America’s gun laws
A 1970s U of WI study sponsored by the fed govt reviewed state
gun laws and their crime rates and could not pin a single benefit
on any laws aimed at guns rather than criminals; a conclusion
re-affirmed by studies by both CDC and NAS more recently
from the long-standing machine gun ban
the Hughes Amemndment 19 May 1986 that froze the NFA registry--
another de facto ban when NFA registered machineguns are not a
crime problem
A BAN, not control.

"anonymous donor" will match pledges. Personally that is spooky.
Has NRA, GOA, SAF, anyone on our side pulled "anonymous donor"
will match your pledge?

That is written with such confidence, I have to believe you're just sick enough to have taken the time to figure that out.

I like that!

If the anonymous donor is real,Soros would be my first guess also.

But he hasn't been shy before in his donations,so why now?

I wouldn't be surprised if the anonymous donor is just a ploy.

I have a question. It's a little off-topic, but others have already mentioned the subject in a way.

People are suggesting or implying that we should donate to the NRA-ILA because of this. I'm not saying people shouldn't donate to the NRA, but IIRC isn't it the Cato Institute that is involved in this, and not the NRA? If this is the case I would think that the Cato Institute could probably use the money in this fight, and sending money to the NRA for this (while I'm sure the NRA will put it to use in the fight for the 2nd Amd.) won't have as direct an effect on this issue. I got a few calls from the NRA when they were gearing up to fight the UN gun grab, but never heard from them on this.

Please understand, this isn't to degrade or criticize the NRA, and I really am asking because I understand that the NRA could have gotten involved without my being aware of it.

Before sending money to the NRA, make sure you know which division (NRA, NRA/ILA, NRA/PVF, etc) you're contributing to. Otherwise, your donations may not go to this cause.

Much as I'm an NRA cheerleader, I also agree with poor_richard. The Cato Institute seems to have taken the lead on this case. Maybe they're more deserving of the money.
