Dear XXX,

This is truly the year for your Brady Campaign and for common sense gun laws.

First, Congress passed, and the President signed, the NICS bill to strengthen the Brady criminal background check system. Your support made it happen.

Then, a number of Congressional allies stepped up and introduced additional legislation. Common sense gun laws, like closing the gun show loophole.

Your Brady Campaign is on a roll. We need your support today to pass strong gun laws!

On January 29, Senators Lautenberg (NJ) and Reed (RI) introduced gun show legislation to keep criminals and other dangerous persons from buying and selling guns without a background check. Brady President Paul Helmke and Virginia Tech families and victims joined the Senators at their widely covered press conference.

And now, The New York Times has called for the presidential candidates to “demand an end to unlicensed gun shows and demand that Congress show courage.”

You see, after years of domination by gun lobby foot soldiers, America has turned the corner on the gun issue. Lawmakers are supporting our common sense agenda. That’s why we need your support now.

Last week, Senator Kennedy (MA) and Representative Becerra (CA) introduced a national microstamping bill giving police officers cutting edge identification technology to solve gun crimes. Thanks to Chapter activism and law enforcement support, your Brady Campaign passed a similar bill in California last fall. Now we are taking this life-saving technology nationwide.

Please help keep the momentum in Congress.
Help us strengthen the Brady background check system
and pass common sense gun laws now.
Please donate to the Brady Campaign today.

One more thing … and this is not to be believed. The gun lobby and its allies in the Senate are pressing to pass a guns in parks bill that would loosen gun restrictions in national parks and refuges and allow in unloaded, hidden handguns. That’s more of the same from the gun pushers: any gun, anywhere, at any time. But your Brady Campaign is pushing back calling on the Senate and the Interior Secretary to reject this ridiculous and dangerous bill.

Our call for your support is urgent. The toll on America’s families seems to grow daily. Five women shot to death in a clothing store in Tinley Park, Illinois; a SWAT officer and three family members murdered in a siege in Los Angeles; two police officers and three city officials gunned down in Kirkwood, Missouri; and most recently, two students shot in class at Louisiana Technical College by a fellow student.

This is the time to strengthen gun laws. This is time for legislative action. Please make a gift today.

Sincerely,

Sarah Brady, Chair

How is microstamping a lifesaving technology? It allows traces AFTER the murder is committed (on the rare occasion that it actually works).

I'll summarize their newsletter.

"Send us money, we're doing something, really! I know we're just clinging to the anything, but please send money! Nevermind that the DC ban got overturned as unconstitutional and is likely to help spur other such such gun control losses. Here's some random sensationalism to loosen your wallet up. The end."

I like sam mountain man's idea, I can't decide if we should give them massachussetts, since it's already suck-tastic, or new jersey, since it's even more jacked up. I vote new jersey. let's give them someplace full of crime so they can see how well their agenda works to save their lives.

or we could give them Britain, just sayin'

Folks,

They can push all they want. These bills aren't going to pass.

Please don't give them to MA. I like it here. Just hate the gun laws.

How about Illinios. Maybe then they would feel safer. They dont allow carry so it has to be safer doesnt it?

HECK NO! Then they would be next door to me! How about we all chip in and buy 'Sealand' and give it to them. Sealand is a old platform from WW2 off the coast of GB(i think) that is considered it's own country since it's in international waters and was deserted for so many years.

Folks,

They can push all they want. These bills aren't going to pass.

That's what some people said about the microstamping bill in California. Now they are introducing it to the rest of the nation. If Obama or Hilary make it into office, I see it as a real possibility.
