Brag thread... While "everyone" was buying EBRs, I got a deal on X...

I found lots of good deals on 1911s during the EBR madness. Even a good deal on an EBR.

My best, I think, was a pre-lock, pin-on-hammer 4" 686 for $350 at a gun shop.

I got myself a Ruger Mark II government Target in dang near mint condition and shiny as all heck for under $300 OTD I love it and at least 2 guys at the range have offered to buy it from me. Now if one of them offers me an AR for it I may take them up on it.

During the EBR craze I was able to pick up an all-matching, non-scrubbed German Kar 98K with all markings intact, no RC marks, pristine bore, and 95% metal condition. The laminate stock also wears the original finish. Estimate it to be worth 500-700......I paid $180.:D

I'd also like to know what accessories & stuff everyone got at the Sportsman's Warehouse liquidation sales.

posted my success stories on the firingline and other forums, but will chime in here as well.

S&W 65-1 pinned/recessed, like new, with original box, papers, reciept from the 70's, the waxy s&W paper for the gun, and the advertising that came with the gun and all for $350!

k31 mint condition (one of the early imports) could pass as new. only thing is it didn't have the tag under the buttplate. it is all #'s matching and no import marking anywhere all this for $200!

remington 700 VSSF in 22-250 with burris signature series 6-24x44 scope and the gun has a jard trigger and less than 100rds down the pipe. cost was $600 shipped to me!!! the scope cost a little less than this if purchased seperately!!!

remington 700 adl in .270. 1 box ammo down the pipe. $275 to my door with leupold mounts and nikon prostaff 3-9x40 scope.

keltec p-32 completely gone through, ramp and all contact points polished, dura coated slide, better than new condition and included ammo for $200.

west german made weatherby mark V deluxe in 7mm WBY MAG with weatherby/talley engraved and serial numbered magnum mounts and rings. 100% condition with a powder coat finish on metal and completely restored stock. all for $675.

was a great year so far for anything that wasn't an ak or ar :neener:

Not outstanding deals, but I got a couple of older S&W revolvers for a very decent price. 1951 K38 Target Masterpiece and a 1972 Model 28-2 (P&R) for $500 OTD. Neither are in mint condition, 80-90% each (with the 28-2 a little better). But they are both fine shooters.

also, just wait a bit for the ak's and ar's they are already coming down in price and picking up speed in decreasing prices. too many folks ran to pay way more than what they were worth and now are in need of cash.

weird thing is sks's seem to still be increasing in price.

we picked up a couple of beautiful m1 garands.

they have replaced our ar's as our favorite rifles. (but we still love our ar's)

Ruger Redhawk 7.5" .44mag. Got it and some ammo in trade from a friend of mine.
I kinda feel like I stole the thing, but my muddy insists he is happy so I am, too.
I still haven't shot it since I got it, but I did shoot it a couple of years ago and it is awesome. I think I'm going to hunt up a 4.5 or 5 inch version soon.

EBRs are back

Where I live (near Chicago!), they aren't much more expensive than they were before BHO. The problem is that most of the "cheap" versions are gone and not coming back. The ones that are left, though, are more or less the same price as they were before.

Ammunition and loading supplies are another matter. The prices aren't too bad, but the product simply isn't available.

I bought a bucket full of S&W first models. 2 First Types for waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy under their value. I love my EBR's but those little old Smith's get me almost as bad as 1911's. S_W_Family-600x450.jpg

More because I know people in a bad way when it comes to money, plus people paying me in trade(house painting, carpeting, etc.), plus good fortune with my previous lawn mowing business(sold it sort, was a sole propietorship so now I only have ten yards a week at $25 a yard).

CETME, S&W Models 19-4(2),19-5,19-6, Ruger P345(bought two weeks ago for $200), AR in 5.45x39, an AR in .223, it's a long list. I did a workup last week and I think I've spent three grand on guns and if I sold them all at prices two years ago I'd get about a little less than six grand in the used market. Thankfully I like them all and won't be letting any of them go. Not even the Star pistols (got a nice nickel and ivory SA 9mm).
