Bragging Friend talks too much

Perhaps their state requires a separate permit for each purchase or acquisition?

I know in NY each handgun is added to and printed on your permit.
No, but Arkansas does have 2 CC permits. The normal one and an "enhanced" one. You have to have the normal one to get the enhanced, which lets you carry in colleges and other places you can't carry with the normal permit. You can buy all the guns you want here on one permit, with no tracking on your license.

Mine as well but I dont have to go through her.Worse is she is an avid shooter/hunter so my gun budget is double.
Same here. Although, seeing as how my wife made more money than I did once she went back to work (after our kids were grown and gone), having a gun budget that's double what a single "shooter/hunter" household would normally have has never been a problem for us. Heck, even now that we're both retired, my wife's retirement income exceeds mine.
It doesn't matter though - it all goes in the same pot anyway. And the truth is, because I have more expensive tastes in almost everything is probably why a few of my guns were more expensive than any of hers. ;)

Ground squirrel shooting on our friend's ranch in the spring of last year.

Same area in the spring of this year. Ground squirrels running around on top of the snow were a lot easier to spot, but there was a lot fewer of them.

He will die with most of it still there and his kids will sell it for pennies on the dollar.
That's true for most of us. Now that I'm in my mid-60's, I do think every now and then when I buy something "My son is going to have to deal with this someday when I'm not around anymore.". Doesn't keep me from getting whatever it is, but I give it a passing thought now. I don't care if he backs a dumpster up and throws it all in. I'm not going to die with the most toys, but I'll be in the running. :)

I admire his storage system as I am not really sure how much of what components I have myself. I strive to keep 200 rounds on hand for each caliber I own. I am a hunter not a target shooter and therefore have no need for more than that.

I learned a long time ago to be careful the information I volunteer. I tell very few people what I have, how much, etc (not that there's that much or anything really expensive)
I could tell someone I trust. They may in turn tell someone they trust, but that doesn't mean I can trust the someone that the someone I told, told.

At first I thought you were going to write that your friend was bragging about his shooting prowess, and when taken to the range he was no better than barn-door accurate or something like that.

Like many of the others, I think he has a common interest with your circle and wanted to show his stash. It’s nice having gun-guy friends. I have several who are in my circle, and others who are in the circle but are not gun folks. The gun guys and I will swap stories, share ammo and go shoot together, the non gun folks and I do other stuff.

Stay safe.

What other hobbies we had during pandemic??? Panic Buying and thinking about SHTF keep most of us sane.

Not me. If SHTF hits the fan there is no place better to be than right where I am. Everyone will be running to what they think is a better place and I''m not joining in with the madness. Besides my wife and I are too old and crippled up to join the parade. If it comes to it I will die right here defending my home. I am still a fairly decent shot the country is flat with no place to hide so It will take a while to dig me out. I was pretty well stocked up so didn't indulge in any panic buying either and just tried to replace what I was shooting up.

with age comes Wisdom… and land, supplies!

My spouse doesn't really know either, although I have told her a couple of times. She's simply not interested.
Same here. She doesn't know, because she doesn't care. lol
She likes going out occasionally to shoot, but can honestly take it or leave it, and has no interest in hunting (shot one deer and darn near cried).

As to the OP, if you're extremely close friends, I don't see a problem.
I will say though, my list of people I would share that with is a pretty darn short one.

I don’t figure it’s anyone else’s business what I have. I also feel no need to brag on it to others.

I wouldn't give out all that info. Gun forums are bad enough with all the questions of what we have and what we've bought lately. Makes a guy wonder if some of these forums are run by ATF. They don't need a compulsory gun registry when they have voluntary ones like this.

Carry on... 😎

Never mind your old Buddy, just read the gun boards if you want to see bragging.

I keep a pallet of Olympic Match ammo on hand just in case.
My Acme Tactical Snipper Special will shoot under a farthing at a furlong all day.
I can execute the Hokey Pokey Drill in 4.3 seconds from the leather.
I just put my fifth Michelangelo Megabuck Macerator on order, I should have it in ten years.

Sometimes I think I should change my signature to "Worst shot on the internet."
Isn’t that a fact? These guys are posting targets supposedly shot with a handgun at distances that I can’t even see the target. If the entire target is covered up by the front sight, how are you aiming?
My favorite are the humble braggers - “I bought this .44 the other day and I know I have work to do but not bad for the first time out.”
Then he posts a target with 12 shots you could cover with the bottom of a Coke can supposedly shot at 100 yards. Uh huh.
