Brand New America-Made Bullpup

I wish someone would make a bullpup with a reversible ejection port like the Beretta carbines. That would allow left handed shooters to shoot one.
The Tavor and AUG both have that feature. The AUG has been around since 1978. The FN P-90/PS-90 are top feed, bottom eject.

The FS2000 ejects about the front, making it ambidexterious. The AUG and Tavor require a LH bolt. On the AUG swapping is a user level task as it just requires a field strip.

On the Tavor switching is a armorer task as the CH and several other parts are swapped for the conversion to LH.

Thanks so much.

Forgive the thread ressurection (not old enough to have a warning). This rifle has caught my eye lately due to the fact that so many Phoenix area gun shops have one (made in Chandler). My understanding is that they have solved most of the quirks of the Bushmaster and the original Australian version except one: handguard heat!

The trigger is fantastic (not just fantastic for a bullpup but fantastic). Like the Tavor, the trigger linkage works in tension (pull) not compression (push) resulting in less bending and binding. I have yet to fire one but hope to, I hope Merchant Firearms brings one to their Sunday open house.

I have the original 17S and the "tension" trigger linkage still results in a typical bullpup trigger pull that would result in no end of complaints on a $500 AR no matter how good the rest of the rifle was.

I always only half jokingly answer the question "why are bullpups so expensive?" with: because there would be no end to the complaints about that trigger on a $500 rifle!

I drilled and tapped mine for a rail and added a Magpul AFG which really helps, a vertical grip would also work but I've never really warmed up to them.

At least with the Tavor you can allegedly get a better trigger if you ware willing to drop an extra $3-500 on an after-market replacement.

This has to be the Shillingest post in THR history.

OP claims "New Product" then plays ignorant of previous modifications on the design of this exact type.

OP gets called out, then claims intimate knowledge of the production process for this firearm.

OP retreats, then comes back to support previous counter-claims of the production process.

Thread gets abandoned.

Still haven't seen this "new" KKF gun take off. Of course, I'm just another idiot working in a contemporary manufacturing facility :D

The problem with this new bullpup is it's all aluminum chassis heats up too fast

Says one reviewer in a very basic review. A reviewer who essentially said the problem (as he sees it) would be solved by the simple addition of a fore grip.
As a Bushmaster M17S owner I have to say.... MistWolf has a point, the aluminum Does heat up and Fast. Kynoch also has a point, the addition of a foregrip or even an AFG eliminates most of it. Adding a cheek piece as pioneered by Kurt's Kustom Firearms (and offered by K&M) saves a shooter's cheeks from being burned as well.

KKF did a lot for the M17 with their cheek pieces, rail additions, replacement charging handles but the bulk of their work was lightening cuts in the receiver and the occasional barrel trim. What KKF never did, and what K&M has done is replace the polymer receiver of the Bushmaster with a machined aluminum receiver (something Kurt never had the money to pursue before his unfortunate death).

Would I buy one? I don't know... it's not a bad design and as simple as it is, I can't see even a caveman or a Marine breaking one easily. Then again.... Desert Tech has theirs coming out this year too....
