Every one should own one, and I finally got around to getting one. I own alot of guns, handguns, rifles, shotguns, C&R milsurp stuff....but didn't own a 10/22.....until yesterday. Only paid $119.00 and its brand new.
Hi all,
The Ruger 10/22s are great rifles. I have added some "GI" style sights to mine. I will be marketing them soon.
This system uses AR apertures and also front posts to give the 10/22 a full service rifle sight picture.
I bought it from a gun shop here in NEPA, which is run by a LEO. Was a great price so I couldn't pass it up. I believe he bought up some guns from another shop and/or owner that went out of business.
After we left his place we swung by Gander Mt just to look at some stuff. They had the same exact 10/22 listed for $179.00.....I showed it to my wife and she just laughed
I've been pleased with mine, but agree that the extended mag release is a good idea. Is this something that is user-doable or do I need a smithy? If the latter, what would a reasonable charge for the service be? If I can do it, are there online resources (or a good description) of what needs to be done and the cost of materials?
Good deal on the 10/22. I think I paid about $150 years ago. Best mod is a better trigger. Replaced the stock "lawyer trigger" with a Power Custom from Brownells. Really helped.
1. Take action out of gun.
2. Push out pin holding magazine realease in from the side that does NOT have the bolt hold open on it. (I used a toothpick to push mine out)
3. DO NOT PUSH THE PIN FARTHER THAN THE BOLT HOLD OPEN LEVER. Just move the pin enough to get the factory release out.
4. To install the new release push the mag catch in the mag well in (As it would do if you where ejecting a magazine.)
5. Then you should be able to drop in the new mag release, release the mag catch and push the pin back in with a little wiggling to get it to line up with the pin.
6. Put the gun back into the stock and enjoy.
Finally found one for a good price, $130 used. I think Im actually going to go with a new one I found with a synthetic stock, bull barrel, bipod, and scope for $190 though.
