I've used the high visibility paints on an old revolver or two, and touch up the sights on my XDs with them every now and then. It just brightens them up like when they were new. I've never used the light activated type though.

I've used the white and yellow on the front blade of all black Partridge sights. Prefer the yellow. Have not tried the orange or green.
