I just returned from a successful black bear hunt in British Columbia and thought I would share some pics. Here they are.

How about a few words on the hunt? How'd it go down? What was he doing? How many shots and what gun? Weight?

Great pics man and congrats on the bear. I'd have to agree with DigMe tho, we need to hear the story with all the details.

Don't you know how this works? Whenever you post pics you got to give the story as well!

Sorry about the lack of details. This was a two bear spot and stalk hunt around Terrace, British Columbia. Bear baiting is illegal in BC. Bear number one took a shot to the shoulder and dropped only to get back up. The bear dropped with a second shot to the shoulder. While the guide was telling me good shot the bear managed to get into the brush. We tracked it down the mountain until dark and decided to come back the next morning. We picked up the trail and caught up with the bear about 50 yards into the brush. The guide was in front with a pistol grip shotgun with buckshot. He fired and dove to the left. As soon as he was clear I fired and went right. The bear caught a load of buckshot in the face and a 30--06 bullet in the chest. This was at a distance of no more than five yards. That is the thickest steepest country I have ever been in. I used a Blaser 30-06 with PMC factory 165 grain Barnes bullets.

Bear number two was walking down the road when we spotted it. It was about 200 yards away and had turned to run. Shot number one dropped the bear but it was up in an instant. I kept pounding away for a total of six shots with five hits. I kept hitting a little high in the shoulder. The vitals are a lot lower on bear due to all that hair. I used factory federal premium180 grain Nosler partitions on this bear. I probably would have used a heavier caliber but had a friend along a decided to use the same caliber as he did.
It was a great hunt and if anybody is interested here is the website of the outfitter. www.bolenlewis.com

A couple of pumpkin heads!!Nice very nice.

Kind of amazing how bears can soak up bullets sometimes isn't it?
