A lady friend of my wife's, who lives a couple of hundred miles away but has a house locally, is heading this way for the 4th. She told my wife she is bringing several guns to sell. Neither she nor my wife know anything about guns but it seems she MAY have a British lend lease M1. I'm getting a pre-sale look at what she has. Don't know anything about the condition but assuming it's good or better, what's a ballpark value on a British M1? Anything else to look for?

I know this is an almost impossible question but it's all the info I have at the moment. Btw, there also MAY be a Lugar; I'm excited.

Not sure Brits got lend/lease Garands. M-1917s, yes.
However, British proof-marked with no offending import marks would be worth a slight premium.
Might retail for about two grand. Which makes $1200 a fair offer.
Also, do not forget that $400 Garands are commanding $800-1000

True lend lease woth much more than $2000. Run of the mill in good condition going for $1000.

After posting this I've since learned a lend lease is fairly rare and I don't have enough expertise to make sure. Once I get my eyes on it I'll do some googling and move cautiously. I don't want to burn either her or myself. Even if it's a nice plain M1 I'll make an offer. Can't have too many.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Look at the CMP and what they charge for them....and they are about the most inexpensive that I have found.....The prices on them have just gone totally nutz....but I guess it is what the market will pay.

Makes me glad I bought mine years ago....wish I would have bought two...but they are only worth something if you sell it....and I have a real hard time selling guns.

Prior to the 1987 legislation self loaders like Garands were legal in the UK. It may be a private import prior to the ban there.
