Congratulations! A beautiful, elegant and very desirable rifle!

As you probably already know, the Brno ZKW 465 is the granddaddy of the CZ527, designed by the Koucky (pronounced sorta like coos-kie I think) brothers Frantisek and Josef, and first marketed in and around 1958. Frantisek Koucky is probably best known for designing the CZ75 pistol.

I don't have production figures for Zbrojovka Brno, but in 1967 they transferred production of the ZKW 465 to Ceska Zbrojovka, where it continued in production in fits: 1968, 71-72, 74-76. CZ produced only 9205 of this model before it was dropped in favor of the ZKB 680 Brno Fox, which came in both .22 Hornet and .222 Rem. For a time, both the 465 and 680 were in production together. Fox production hit about 34K when it too was dropped in 1979. The CZ 527 was finally introduced in the late 1980s, with an action resized slightly for the .223 Remington and a number of other later added chamberings. I flipping love the 527!

There are subtle differences in the bolt, trigger and magazine details, but all three use the same basic bolt design wherein the removable handle retains the striker assembly. Set triggers for both the 465 and 680 were double, while the 527 features a single set trigger. The mag latch moved around over time, so magazines do not interchange between models.
