I noticed that a "new to me" Sig 232 I picked up has the front night sight busted so it does not glow like the rear sight does.

What is the normal approach to repair these?

I assume, buy a new front sight, drift out the roll pin holding it in the dovetail and then tap out the old and replace with the new? Or do folks actually drill or pull out the ampule and glue in a new one?

Thanks Bill. I hit Tooltech's website and they advertise replacement of non-Trijicon night sights. I will call them and see what they can do for me.

Otherwise I will call SIG and see what they have to offer.

The sights are not branded Trijicon on the side like my other ones. They are "no named" so I expect that a complete replacement is in order.

Get a hold of Sig directly. They are very good about taking care of their customers and will go the extra mile to make you happy. I handled the repair of a couple of customer sight issues via Sig and they took them back for repair no questions asked.

Thank you. Ok, I will try SIG first and see what customer support says first. I can then try someone else if SIG does not want to mess with it.

My SIG 232 SL has the front night sight milled as part of the slide and doesn't come off.

Are you saying yours is dovetailed into the slide??

rc

Yes. It is interesting that the dovetail runs parallel to the barrel instead of perpendicular like on say a 1911. It is pinned in after dovetailing. Boy that pin is small though.

It is also a dark metal sight in contrast to the stainless slide.

Go to google and a do a search on "sig 232 stainless" and look at the images. You can see there are many with black sights on a stainless slide. You can look carefully and see how it was dovetailed in some of the pictures.

I have not shot any pictures of mine but will do so soon.
