Got 2 more guns in the shop last week. A Colt officers, and a SA SS TRP. Am gutting out the junk parts in the TRP and putting in the good stuff...........in english, that means steel Old Fuff.

Anyway, I made an order to Brownell's for the parts and got the order today. I ordered a Brown SS Hardcore Slide Stop to replace the cast/mim slide stop on the TRP. But when I opened the pkg., the Brown slide stop was cast as well..........and it had serrations instead of checkering.

Now I've used Brown Hardcore SS Slide Stops in the past, and they were all solid SS with checkered faces..........what happened? Has Brown lost his mind? When did they make the change?

Brownell's catalog and their web site still show the good style slide stop.

I must have been getting the last of the old stock in the past.........

Very disappointed.........

Cast Slidestop

Howdy Wichaka,

Yep...Brown hardcore slidestops are castings. To the best of my knowledge, Wilson Bulletproof slidestops are the only commercially available machined stops. Brownells lists factory Colt stops...and those are machined, but they're as pricey as the Wilsons.

Good news is that Brown's cast stops are very good. I've got'em in all
three of my hardest-use beaters ...and I've been doin' my level best to break'em for a while now without success, and several other people that use'em report pretty much the same results...so they also appear to be
of consistent quality.

Gil Hebard sells the exact same part. He calls his a Master Class and they are out of the same mold. He does not have a web site. His phone number is 1-309-289-2700. Tell him I sent you.
