I'm looking at Turner Slings for a M1907 to put on my CMP 1903A3. I have one on my Garand and love it.

Since the '03A3 is WWII production, I figure Parkerized metal hardware would be appropriate. However, I can't decide whether to get a brown or tan sling. Were brown slings used in WWII?

How much of that color was mud, sweat, and blood?

Don't forget all of that accumulated tobacco smoke over the years!

Your sling will get darker with use. It may take some time, but eventually it will get there.

Ditto.

I, for one, didn't want dirt, grit, and sweat to get into the sling that I put on my Garand, so, I stained it with leather stain, then rubbed it in.

The sling (when new) was a tan MRT sling.

My Garand is/was used to shoot High Power Matches. I wasn't too particularly concerned with what was technically 'correct' for my rifle.

Thanks for reading.

During WWII they issued whatever they had on hand tan, brown, leather, canvas. Any one would be "correct".
