Have a new Browning BLR takedown, 308, 20" bbl. Like everything about it but the long length of pull. Find the rubber recoil pad often hanging-up on my shirt as I shoulder the gun. This gun has a long length of pull than any of my other lever or bolt guns. Find if I shorten it to a length like my other lever guns I'll get the end of bolt into my nose.

Wonder why they made the bolt travel so long for this relatively short cartridge? Does the bolt travel the same distance for the longer magnum cartridges?

I don't know. I only have experience with long action cartridges like .270 and .30-06. I would have thought that short action cartridges wouldn't have as much travel. I also don't have the habit of cycling the lever while I'm still welded to the stock.
