Browning BPS

I'm looking to pick up a dedicated trap gun and I like the look of the Browning BPS Micro Trap. Just a couple of quick qeustions. Does anyone know if this is semiauto or pump? Also, anyone shoot trap or skeet with this gun? How is it?

Aha. Okay. Well, it is a beautiful gun, but I'm not sure I should get a pump for busting clays. I'm used to using an auto. Thanks for the help.

I own one.

If you learn how to run it it can be as fast as an auto.

Mine is beautifully smooth and they even make a home defense version now.

For trap (unless you are shooting doubles) there should be no difference as to action used. Some don't like semi-autos since they throw the empty at the person to their right. Even if you are shucking right after shooting, the BPS throws the empty down and slightly in front of you(bottom eject). Fit and balance should be the key to choice.

I own one and it has never pointed correctly for me, it is to heavy for
trap shooting IMHO, and the blueing is wearing faster than any other
gun I own and when I purchased mine anouther 100 bucks would have
got me a good Remington 1187.
I would go for a lighter faster handling gun than a BPS. I am going to
trade or sell mine before next Pheasant season.

I would not get a semi for trap. PITA you will regret.

I also would not get a bottom-loading pump like a BPS or M37, nice as they are. Trap usually requires you to keep the action open until it's your turn. With a conventional side-eject pump, you just drop a shell in the open action, wait for your turn with the gun on a toe tab or ground pad, and close it when you're ready to shoot.

Ultimately, you'll probably want a break-action, if it's specifically for trap. But a side-eject pump like an 870 or Model 12 is a good choice and almost equally convenient for the shooter.
