Mark III vs Buckmark is one of those rare choices where it's impossible to go wrong. I don't get those much. Impossible to go right decisions abound...
I picked up a 1995 BM Target with a zinc coated slab side barrel a couple of years ago. Original box etc. Advertised as unfired. $250. I took it apart and it really was unfired. It's one of the best gun buys I've ever done. It has an adjustable trigger pull set at its lowest, about 3#. You just think to pull that trigger. And open sights. Very accurate and what a delight to shoot. My wife loves it too. We do our monthly practice with our EDCs and then unwind with the BM. It's a screamer on steel.
I must have picked up the one not so reliable one when I got mine. I love the pistol (Stainless URX Camper model), but it has become somewhat problematic feeding. sometimes it will do just fine but then all of a sudden it runs the next round above the feed ramps and into the top of the chamber. I love the pistol and up until a few months back it was 100% flawless with well over 2,000 rounds through it. I just wish I could figure out what's going wrong with it.
I have a Camper model that I bought used off a local gun forum for $200. It was filthy and had some worn out parts, but it was cheap to fix and cleaned up great. Shoots wonderfully, I think I got a great deal on it. I've replaced the rear sight with a rail and put a red dot sight on it. Midway carries tons of things for them.
I love my buck. I used to have a Ruger MKII and it was OK, but it did have problems with certain types of ammo. I can't think of any type of ammo that the Buckmark doesn't like.
I don't know for sure how many rounds I have through this, but it's probably in excess of 10K, and it still looks almost like new.
I have a Buck Mark with a Nikon red dot on it. It's one of my fav handguns. Be sure to do the sear spring flip and you'll have a wonderful trigger as well.
Sight it in at 15 yards and it will also be accurate at 50yds due to the parabolic bullet path. Most of my Buck Mark shooting is done at 50yds. It's a blast!
