Browning Buckmark Ammo Question

I just bought a new browning buckmark pistol in .22LR. What is the best ammo to shoot for target shooting? I have several bulk 500 JHP round boxes of Federal Winchester and Remington. Do those shoot well with this gun or should I buy some premium ammo?

I got this gun from Academy sports. It was weird because I had to fill out paperwork at the gun counter. I then got escorted to a cash register to pay. I then got escorted to the parking lot. I think I will buy guns from the small gun stores from now on.

Your Buck Mark should digest just about everything. My memory is a tad unclear but I've heard Remington is putting out a high %% of bad .22 so you may get duds if my memory is right. The Buck Mark is one of the better .22 semi autos out there.
I bought mine at Academy too. I got escorted to the door but not outside. I wouldn't feel that bad. I bought a .22 rifle from Wal Mart last year and the manager there escorted me all the way to the car!

Usually, so-called "match" or "match grade" ammo will shoot tighter groups. Most of this is standard velocity, which may or may not cycle your action reliably compared to high velocity, although a Buckmark should not have a problem with this. It also costs a little more. Before committing to a large bulk purchase, try a variety of small (50-round) boxes of different loads to see which one(s) your pistol "likes."

It depends on how accurate you need it to be. If you're shooting competition you might want the high dollar stuff. For casual paper and bottle blasting the federal 550 boxes have been plenty accurate.

My Buckmark likes everything, ammo wise. Unless you're really doing some precision shooting the march grade is not worth the added cost, IMO. You will get more duds with the cheap stuff though, that's for sure.

The screws on the rail on the top of the pistol have a tendency to loosen as you shoot. If you're pistol stops firing check the screws. This is the only quirk about the pistol that I'm aware of. Otherwise, it's a great pistol. Enjoy it.

fwiw, don't take the way you were treated at Academy personally, that's how they do it everywhere. It must be company policy.

My Buckmark is a very finicky eater. It does not like Remington or Federal or Winchester bulk ammo. I only use CCI mini-mags and don't worry about it.

Many .22 auto loaders are picky about ammo, you might have to make compromises between reliability and accuracy. I tried over 25 different examples in my Buckmark before I settled on Winchester Dynapoints. And .22 ammo is cheap enough to try every new brand you see.

I would stay away from the Remington Gold Box. Blew the ejector out of one of my BuckMarks. Eat's just about everything else. Enjoy.

My Buckmarks shoot the cheap stuff from Walmart just fine but its not always as reliable as the better quality .22 ammo. Sometimes I'll get a box without a misfire out of the whole 525 rounds, other times it seems like there's one in every 4 or 5 magazine loads. CCI standard velocity is good for targets and not as expensive as match grade ammo. I seldom have an misfire or jam with it and use it for my Bullseys leageu.

CCI mini mags work well on mine. Very few failures to feed.

As mentioned, don't feel bad about the way you were accompanied at Academy. I had to go through the same thing when I bought my SIG 556. It's just company policy.

My Buckmark regularly hits minute-of-pop can at backyard distances with both the Federal and Remington bulk packs from Wallyworld. Phenomenal little thing.

Mine likes the Blazer and Federal Champion the best but will shoot most anything I stick in it, except the Remington cheap stuff.
