testar77:

I have 2 Twelvette Double Autos. A brown recievered one left to me by my dad when he passed, and a "Dragon Black" one I bought a couple years ago. I think they are great guns. Very light and easy to carry. When properly fed and cared for, they are deadly on upland game birds.

Be aware, these guns were hand fitted and a barrel from one will rarely fit another without fitting by a qualified gunsmith. If you have multiple barrels that fit your gun, you may want to keep them;, especially if they are of different chokes. Some Twelvettes and Twentyweights were sold with multiple barrels and, IMHO, should not be broken up. There seems to be modest interest among Browning collectors, but as we all know, this can change overnight (either way).

Keep in mind, the receivers have a history of cracking at the end of the bolt handle's rearward travel. This is usually due to excessively heavy loads fired through them. My dad's gun exhibits this crack, probably due to all the magnum duck and goose loads he fired through it.

I hope this is helpful.

The reason that I ask is that I have a barrel that I need to sell. I do not own a Twelvette double auto, I just have the barrel therefore it is of no use to me.

Thanks,
Toby

My apologies.
It was reasonable to assume if you had a barrel to such an uncommon shotgun, you might have the rest of it, too. Numrich Gun Parts does not have any barrels in stock at this time, but a few years ago they did and, IIRC, were priced at $130 +/-. Your best bet is as noted above: E-Bay or similar site.
