Browning Hi-Power vs CZ75

What are the pros/cons of these two pistols in 9mm? What is a good price for NIB for each? I Currently have a 1991A1 and an XDSC9. I like both but shoot the Colt better although to be fair it is probably because I have shot it much more. I like the thin profile of the Hi-Power.

Is there particular CZ75 you were looking at? I ask cuz my CZ75 B 40 S&W is pretty reliable, but is designed with small difference in comparison to the CZ 75 SP-01.

I really don't know much about CZ's. I will only consider CZ models that come in 9mm; I have enough calibers now.

Pros and Cons?

Well, here are pros for the CZ-75:
Higher capacity
Lower cost (generally)
DA/SA (A pro for some, more a matter of preference)

Pros for the BHP:
More plentiful parts and accessories
High quality mags are cheap and everywhere
Better trigger (with some exceptions)
SAO (again, a matter of preference)

Whichever fits your hand better will probably be your best bet.

I have both, a CZ75B and a BHP.

I would be hard pressed to pick one over the other. they both have been 100% reliable and both are more accurate than I am.

The 75B does have the advantge of being able to be carried either cocked and locked or in D/S mode.

Both a good CZ and good hi-power can be pricey for some people. Luckily, both have outstanding "clones" if you will.

You can pick up an FM (argentinia) hipower AND a witness (EAA) for less than the price of a browning practical.

The HP is a fine, fine pistol that I like and admire greatly. Having said that, I prefer the CZ's ergonomics, much lower cost, and the versatility of the CZs DA/SA action (which I can still carry Condition 1, like a HP, if I want).

For me the BHP won hands down. The CZ is big a blocky in my hand. The BHP simply points and shoots right for me.

My experience is that both are fine choices. It really comes down to personal preference. If you can shoot both of them side by side. One of the two will jump out at you as the superior weapon FOR YOU.

I own an FM M95 Hi-Power. I am a convert I love the design. The CZ75 is the best they could do without infringing on Copywrite laws IMHO. Therefore why not buy the gun they tried to copy, instead of the copy?
Don't get me wrong I would buy a CZ in .380 or 9x18 but not in 9mm or 40 S&W since the Hi-Power is the benchmark all the rest really want to meet. I know people will want to jump all over this, but it is my opinion and I am entitled. Flame away if you choose.

I would not consider the CZ a copy of the HP!

Internally, the CZ is completely different than the High Power.

I like the BHP more. More slim. Simple....beautiful design.

The ONLY advantage the CZ has IMHO, is the ability to carry in different modes.

Cons of both (for my taste, at least)

CZ-75B -- Manually lowering the hammer on a loaded chamber, if it's going to be used in the DA mode.

Browning Hi-Power -- Hammer bite (I have big hands but not that big!)

The 75B (and variations, up to and including the SP-01) are wonderful pistols. No magazine disconnect hitch in the trigger and no bite would be the two biggest points over the Browning IMO.

However,shooting lately, I've begun to feel like the CZ is small for my hands (which aren't huge - I wear a L glove, maybe XL in some brands, it's not like I can palm a basketball) - with a high, solid grip, my trigger finger naturally hits on the second pad. I either need to get used to moving my finger out more or get chunkier grips.

I agree that the slide is thinner and the HP is, at least IMO the best looking pistol there is, but I would disagree that the HP has a better trigger out of the box. After a trigger job, maybe.

For my hands, the grip on both guns is equally good.

I don't get these CZ75/High-Power comparisons. Sure the CZ uses the Browning short recoil system, but so do most of the semi-auto pistols made in the last century. Beyond that, I don't see much similarity.

SA-only vs DA/SA
Mag disconnect vs no mag disconnect
External slide rails vs internal slide rails
Semi-beaver tail vs full beaver tail
Different dimensions and ergonomics w/ the CZ being slightly larger and bulkier.

I own a CZ. I've handled a High-Power. I don't see much similarity.

Dude all semi-autos look alike. Considering their internals are quite different, kind of foolish to call one a copy or attempt to copy another.

Next up, only buy a colt peacemaker, because all revolvers look like it.

All automobiles look the same too, have four wheels, doors, a trunk, windows, a roof, bumbers. Only buy Ford model T's?

My Browing MkIII is a tack-driver. My CZ75BD was not.

Take the magazine disconnect out of a HP and you've got the perfect Won9.

What he said. The HP grip fits a small hand very well. It is a better looking gun IMO, but it is single action only, which may or may not be your preference. Both typically function well and both are accurate. If you decide to sell the gun someday, the HP will retain far more value than the CZ. CZ's are a lot like Rugers in that respect - they are great guns, but no one wants to pay much for a used one. I would take the CZ hands down if the finish was on par with the HP.

Um I did encourage you to go on so I guess your comments about the preference I stated were asked for.
I do not recall however stating that anybody should nor do I expect them to follow my opinions blindly.
I have a preference for the BHP's and their design. They are for the most part a benchmark that others aspire to and sometimes meet or exceed. This is the same reason I would buy and prefer any 1911/A1 over other .45 acp's. I have a preference for them. Buy what you want, buy two for all I care, shoot them till you can't shoot them anymore, for whatever reason. My preferences will still remain.
Side note to Foob your analogies are somewhat off base since as I said it was just a preference. Nor did I say that everybody anywhere should only buy BHP's I said that is what I would buy.
