browning hi-power wood stock

It will fit only those with the tangent sights, like the Canadian Inglis model, and it slides into a hole at the back of the grip. $160 is not a bad price, I have seen them go for more than that. Make sure you understand the rules regarding ownership/use, I think it's ok for a C&R Browning, but not for a new model.
 
The High Powers that will fit it, are as as hagar states, they have a slot cut into the grip. BTY before you buy it you are going to jump through all hoops, right ? I know you've checked out the regulations concerning short barrel rifles. And just owning the stock and a handgun it will attach too, is now considered having a short barrel rifle. Now the rules are complex and I'm not an expert, but me, myself and I, would rather do it the legal way rather than risk 6 to 10 in Club FED.
 
Somebody should report this guy to both gunbroker and ebay. It should be against the rules to post an auction of the same item in two different places.

Should be. But I see it all the time. I see the same guns offered concurrently for sale at gunbroker and auctionarms constantly. Report him. Unless it's a restricted/illegal item they won't lift a finger. They don't care if the same item is listed two or more places, apparently.
 
Yes, but he was asking about attaching it to a modern handgun. Not a 3thousand dollar collectors item :)
 
All I know is it fit an older model High Power. Some love them and want them. I however, would never want one. Period.

As the old saying goes, there's one born every minute. Maybe he thinks ebayers aren't as smart as the people at Gunbroker.
 
BATF is a stickler about things like this. In the U.S. only an original stock (which usually sells for more then $400.00) can be attached to the Inglis. No other combination of new stock/old pistol or old stock newer pistol can be attached (There are Chinese copies that are for sale in the U.S. and are legal to own but not to attach). I know this sounds really silly but it's their regulations. I asked this directly when at the BATF booth at the 2005 Shot show in Vegas. So I got it from the horses mouth. To bad we have such archaic regs, in Europe where you allowed to own firearms many places allow the combination without restriction (this according to some forum members from over seas who have mentioned this).

There is a copy of a BATF letter around which states that as of a certain recent date replica stocks are legal if they are identical to the original style and mounted on BHPs originally made for them (with the cut slot on the backstrap). Essentially this means tangent sighted WWII Inglis BHPs or prewar Belgian tangent sighted guns.

I am a little hazy on whether any subsequent postwar Brownings of any persuasion were slotted for these. I doubt it.

FWIW they are of limited utility anyway. Even in the day FN was dubious about the concept and only produced them because the end user was enthralled with them. The Chinese loved their broomhandle Mausers at the time and the majority of the Inglis BHPs were made for them with the holster-stock attachment.
