Browning High Power “E” stamp on left side triggerguard?

Hi all! I’ve been researching my Hi power and I can’t find anything about this “E” stamp. I’ve dated it as a Belgium made 1980 pistol. But can’t find anything about this stamp? Please advise.

It is an assemblers mark. Your 1980 BHP was manufactured in Belgium and assembled in Portugal even if the rollmark does not indicate it. By 1980 they all pretty much were assembled in the Viana plant.

Thank you! I thought the T with the star above denotes the inspectors initials though?
