I have a like new fired less than 100 rounds BHP Two tone Practical MkIII that my neighbor wants to buy. I just went on Browning's website and they don't make this model anymore.

What would be a fair price?

I have a Blue Book of gun values subscription, and the
value of that gun is $510 at 95% condition, that is with
fixed sights. It says add $58 if the pistol has adjustable
sights.

Holy smokes. I thought they were worth more. You hardly ever see them in gun shops. They list for over 1K on their website and that's not even the practical model.

I have two of them in my shop right now. One of them is going
to be mine, the other is being bought by one of my employees.

The current production guns are very expensive...more than
what I would pay, but that's just my opinion.

I think that one of the reasons that Hi Powers are not more popular
is that they are single action. Many folks in the 9mm market
are put off by that feature...having to carry cocked and locked.
Glocks and similar pistols are much simpler to operate. Just point
and shoot.

I would say somewhere between $625 and $750; maybe $700 would make for a fair price in the condition that you described. I guess it also depends on how neighborly you feel towards your neighbor.

They might not be the Practical model , but I have observed that the country is simply flooded with hipower s since about the middle of last year.
It seems as if most are imports from countries that are trading into more modern firearms. I think that a pretty fair number of them are coming from Iraq also.
Probably not the best time to be looking for "highest dollar" from selling a hipower unless it is some sort of exceedingly desired model.

None are coming in from Iraq. They are coming in from Israeli and a few from France. They are coming in through PW Arms (Israeli) and another importer I cannot remember for the French.

This is what you are typically getting for $400.

They are in varying states of condition. IMHO the lower priced one under $400 can be a good value if you pick the right one. The practicals I have seen looked rough. Most look to have been refinished to look like the practicals and certainly are not up to the level of the commerical Practicals. The used ones are $489 + shipping and transfer and look like this:

Practicals have always been high sought. They no longer make them. I personally wish they would bring them back. It is one of the few HI Powers I want in NIB condition and would leave and shoot stock.

I saw a practical in a shop awhile back like new for under 600. Didn't last long.......

A year or two back I snagged this one new in box with papers (original wood grips are tucked away) for $650. It had just gone in the case and there were three guys waiting for me to put it down. These days in these parts I'd expect to see it from $800 to $850.

i just paid $822 for a mk. III with fixed sights. it has a big gouge on the left side and no one seems to care. take a good look even on brand new guns.

Always sound advice when buying any gun. So many places these days have a no return policy.

Have you contacted Browning directly?
