I ordered the ONLY one Davidson's had in stock.

What do you guys think of these? Any real experience in the field?

How should I scope this monster? 2-7, 3-9?

Any observations?

I'd put a 2-7 or something in that range. As for the gun, good on you for getting one. I hadn't seen them anywhere yet. As I already have one older one, I'm not interested in another, but I'd like to see a new one at any rate. Mine is an absolute wonder. I love it.

I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for. The BLR is a nice compact package, and I didn't want to clutter mine with a big scope. If it's primarily a short range rifle, you don't need a monster scope. When I used mine exclusively in the thick stuff, I used a Vari-X II 1X4X20. I also tried a Leupold Compact 3X9, which worked nice for more open country. Other alternatives would be a Leupold 2X7 Compact or VX-III 1.5X5X20, 1.75X6X32E. Leupold just revised their pricing structure on the compacts, so they are more attractive than they used to be.

BLR Scope

I ended up puting on a 2X7 Leupold Shotgun Scope, mostly for the thicker plex reticle.

I figure the paralax difference between a scope set to 75 yards and a "rifle" scope set to 100 yards is minor up to 200 yards.

I was always intrigued with the .358Win. Great cartridge. I'd go with a lower-powered scope, too. You won't be shooting varmits in the next time zone.
