I went to Gander Mountain, today, and purchased a new toy: a Browning Pro-9 Stainless. I have been considering a FNP-9, but the clearance sale price compelled me to go with the Browning version. I only wish I did not have to endure the waiting period.

What can others who own this gun tell me?

I have wanted 1 w/ a stainless slide. I dry fired one at a gun show - the trigger is sweet. Very smooth.

Post a pic!

I love mine. It's very comfortable to carry. It's much more accurate than I am - if I do my job it will be on the mark. I previously carried an FEG Hi Power, and I really prefer carrying the Pro-9 despite being able to hit a little better with the Hi Power.

I'm waiting on them to make one in .45 ACP.

Stachie, You are my new best friend:D

I have owned my PRO-9 going on three years and I LOVE IT!!!

Everybody I know is sick of me talking about this pistol. I think this is one of the finest 9mm auto's I have ever owned or shot, and I own just about one of every modern brand Sig, HK, GLOCK, Ruger, S&W, Taurus, Beretta, CZ, Springfield.

The Single Action trigger on this thing is like Buttah!!! I like to use the flat grip panel and love the big trigger guard It's even big enough to get your finger into with gloves on.

I lost count on how many rounds I have put through it but I have had zero failure and I sometimes shoot some pretty poopy ammo even the Wolf Steel case stuff has worked and that's pretty rare.

You got a heck of a deal on it. I paid $500.00 for mine. The FNP-9's weren't around when I got mine and they weren't being made in the USA. So that's why I gladly paid that amount for the Browning model. Looking back it was a great decision!!!

I hope you end up liking yours as much as I like mine!!!

Here is a link to the new FNP-45 for those who are interested.

JD Lion, you made my day. I was a little curious as to what to expect from this pistol. After hearing about your wonderful experience, I cannot wait to put several thousand rounds down-range.

I agree, the single action seemed quite nice!

The FNP-9 came before the Pro-9 and they have always been made in the US.

The FNP-9 is the most recent development of the famous Belgian company FN Herstal. First announced in 2003, the basic design is available in two versions. The Law Enforcement / Military version is marketed as FNP-9, and has a matte black finish; the Civilian version is marketed as the Browning PRO-9, and has a bead-blasted stainless steel finish on the slide. Frames on all models are black polymer. These pistols apparently made at two FN facilities - for European market guns are produced at FN home factory in Herstal, Belgium; for US market guns are made in FN plant in Columbia, South Carolina, USA, by the FN Manufacturing Inc, subsidiary of the FN Herstal.

I am sorry if my info is incorrect, but at the time of my purchase the FNP-9 was not readily available in the stores in my area.

Oh I believe you. The introduction of both pistols was marred by growing pains. FN still doesn't have the production capacity to meet the demand. Why they don't raise the prices, I have no idea.

I assure you that no FNP-9 are made in Europe. My sources aren't webpages. (Please note my location)

OWEN,

Thanks for correcting my bad information. I always thought the first model FNP's were imported. I have a notorious bad memory, so I guess I must have been thinking of the Forty Nine being imported..

Thanks,

I just looked at the prices on Gunbroker and the lowest price is over $400.00. I thought I saw prices on these at around $350.00? Even Buds Gun Shop is charging $450.00. Did they maybe take your advice and raise the prices?
