I'm seriously thinking about getting a marlin 1895 45-70 from buds seeing how they are the best price with the marlin rebate but I've never dealt with them before or any online gun ordering and a little Leary about the whole process.

what if i get a bad model as far as fit and finish because obviously i cant see the rifle before purchasing it and having it sent to the FFL?

How are they able to sell firearms way cheaper then anyone else?
I've always been served well by Bud's. Regarding what ifs, inspect the firearm thoroughly before transfer. If not, it's on you and you'll be at their mercy.

I've ordered a few firearms from Bud's. They have good prices and I have never had a problem with their shipping. They are slow shipping if you pay the e-check way.

I have ordered several from Buds. Great place. Now my fancy has turned to Gunprodeals.com. Very friendly personnel. Ordered a pistol Monday evening and picked it up wednsday at four. Couldn't go wrong with either.

I bought my EDC Ruger LCP through Buds several years ago.

No hassles. Very happy with them.

this is funny. there are threads where guys would never buy a gun without dry firing it a few times in the store then guys are buying a ton of guns from Buds sight unseen. I guess half do it one way and the others do it another way

I like to buy local if I can. Around here no one stock many SA revolvers. If you happen to find one you'd think they were solid gold :). I found one I wanted new at Buds that was cheaper than used on Gunbroker. Shipped for free to a local FFL I had it in less than a week. FFL was $20 and I was still money ahead over Gunbroker, and over $100 ahead of local prices. I hate to go past the local guy but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I try local first. But if they don’t want to deal, it’s like you say “you gotta do what you gotta do”.

It’s not like you can force them to give you a competitive price. And it's not like I’m asking them to be cheaper. I just don’t want to get screwed.

If it shows up at your FFL messed up, just don’t accept it.

Exactly. Bud's gives you an opportunity to inspect the gun before taking possession of it. You have the option to not accept it.

Around me the FFL's charge double on the transfer fee's on guns from Bud's vs guns from other online dealers. No reason given.

I'm lucky I guess, I know and use a local retired gent that's a kitchen-table FFL and all he does is transfers. Face to face purchases or internet buys, he does the transfers and he's VERY reasonably priced. And he does a LOT of them.

I've bought 3 guns from them. Never had a problem with the guns nor the prices and shipping was fast. They offered a thirty day price guarantee that would honor a price drop. They'd give you a list of FFL's in your area with the transfer fees.
I liked looking at all the different guns on their website for a reference or just to start a want list.

I have purchased half a dozen guns from them over the years. The last one was a Hi Point! If you inspect them before taking possession you have a chance to find a problem beforehand that can be remedied. All of mine went through from order to in my hands without a problem. It depends on the gun companies reputation of having problems or not. Now, I will give the local FFL a chance of selling me a gun for a fair price. I will tell him what Buds price is and see what he can do. I do expect him to make something on it and if the total is within reason I purchase locally every time. Sometimes the cost difference is basically what the transfer fee is and the local FFL does not charge a transfer fee if I buy the firearm from him so I stay local.

I've never had an issue with Bud's.

Hanzo is almost certainly right about why some FFL's won't do transfers for guns bought from bud's, since the prices are likely drastically less than what they are trying to sell them for (like, $400 vs. $600)

I've bought from Bud's a few times, but they are hardly the lowest price out there. Gunbuyer, Grab A Gun, CDNN beats them regularly.

I have had several good experiences with Bud's. I used them a lot when living in CA, local shops were limited to a few and usually expensive. I would not hesitate to use them again if necessary.

I do have one friend who received a blemished AR from them a while back and is unwilling to give them a second chance, he is pretty stubborn though. In the end they did make it right.

I bought from Bud's 2-3 years ago, a couple times. That 2-tier price thing was annoying. If I saved the 3% by sending them a check, the check was stuck in their bank for several days waiting to clear - and the processing/shipping procedure didn't start until after the check cleared. Got tired of the delay and hassle. My 1st shopping stop now is Davidson's Gallery Of Guns (GOG), because my LGS gets a piece of the sale and the price is usually still good. To check that, I look at Grab A Gun; if they have a significantly better deal, I buy there. Both outfits ship quick.

VThillman has hit it on the head. Bud's, Grab-a-gun and others like that are not stocking all that you see on their website. They order from a distributor and have the distributor ship to your FFL. Davidson's and some others out there give the local dealer a cut. They may also charge a bit more. But, if eventually, you won't mind doing ALL of your shopping online for everything gun-related you need, go right ahead.

Good prices, free and speedy shipping. What's not to like? There are some "Bud's Busters" out there that like to talk smack but I have yet to have a bad experience with Bud's and have bought at LEAST half a dozen guns from them in the past few years and was more than pleased every time.

I have used Buds, with electronic payments and layaway no issues whatsoever.
Since, the first owners so far.
