I found a Bulgarian AK74 with black synthetic hardware and 2 mags for $350. I know ammo is about $130 for 1,000 rounds. I've got a few AK47s and am a big fan - debating an AK74.

Thoughts, personal experiences, opinions of the AK74?

It would make a nice truck gun.

However you must consider a few things

NDS-2 receiver, Century arms, American made barrel that is not chrome lined.

If your going to be shooting purely corrosive ammo, the non-chrome lined barrel could be a deal breaker for some.

Where as the TCI truck gun, is made with A bulgarian parts kit with matching barrel and IS chromed line....better quality and its is running $399 if you go and get the coupon code in their thread at AK forums.

got an email about the ak ur talking about for 350, looks like a decent deal would have ordered one right off if it had been in 7.62

I think its a good deal also. I have had some duds from century, but they always step up and fix the problem.

can you post a picture so I can which one you are talking about?

i'm guessing is this one... mine is in a brown truck ;)

Ok its fixed.

Wow that plastic stock LOOOOKS cheap. If that is cromelined buy it and put a nice stock on it. Because that looks below basic stock. I think the wasr10 wood stock is much better.

Yours is in a brown truck? you must have order it :)

CFS AK-74 with side-rail, 6 mags, and quick detachable scope mount. $416 shipped!

For $350 shipped, a chrome-lined barrel is not a deal breaker, and you can replace the furniture if you feel that you need to. I'll spend the 5 minutes to field strip and clean my rifle after shooting corrosive ammo. I do anyway, corrosive ammo or not.
This is my first AK-74 and I took it out for 1st time today. I loaded 3 separate mags with Barnaul 55 grain HP. The rifle functioned flawlessly. Nice trigger and minimal recoil. The stock feels inexpensive, and probably is, but works great! I had a 25mph tail wind but was able to a hit pie plate target at 100 yards consistently with iron sights. No keyholes. My rifle with 6 mags and the quick detachable scope mount was $416 shipped. I am very happy with my purchase! It's time to order some tins of ammo now.:)
