Bullet puller/gunsmithing tip

My tip for very inexpensive no-mar surfaces when tapping out pins/general gunsmithing/gasket hole punching/etc. tasks?

Go to the nearest megamart/sportinggoodsmart and buy a couple black rubber hockey pucks. Usually the cheapest no-brand ones are under a couple bucks.

They work great and also make a nice strike surface for a kinetic bullet puller hammer.

If you have a "Dick's Sporting Goods" store anywhere near you, check there. They at least have them listed on their website and they are about 2 bucks apiece.

I just poured a tuna can(6 oz.) full of lead and let it cool and peeled the can away, great striking pad for your kinetic puller. Hold it in your hand and strike. Weighs about 4 pounds, works like a dead blow hammer. Been using mine for over 30 years.
