i am looking into buying 1000 45 acp bullets. strictly for target and plinking. the raineer PLATED bullets seem to be way cheaper than traditionally fmj bullets. has anyone used the raineers? do they shoot as good as a jacketed bullet? are there any advantages between the two, besides cost?

i have had many years of good luck with rainier in 9+p 40sw 357 sig. load data is for lead. never had a problem with separation or accuracy. the plating is about as thick as the nickle is over the brass of a case. IIRC hardness: lead-18, hard lead-21, plated -23, jacketed-35+. (copper washed dont change it at all)
for target & practice i use 200 gr LSWC hard lead. less cost than plated and no downside i have noticed. unless your range requires plated or jacketed for lead abatement reasons why spend more?

I've used them with good results. They are less smoky than traditional lubricated cast bullets -- which might be important if you shoot at an indoor range.

Raniers 200 gr SWC is very accurate. Berry's 185 Gr SWC is very accurate and has light recoil. Berry's 200 Gr HP is very accurate and feeds great in guns that are finicky with the SWC style bullets.

Berry's 185 Gr HBRN feeds in any gun that feeds hardball and works great as well.

Plated bullets work really well in the .45 ACP.
