"A 25-year-old man armed with a military-style rifle surrendered to Mobile police Wednesday afternoon following a four-hour standoff near downtown.
Police had evacuated a three-block area surrounding the intersection of Old Shell Road and North Pine Street after Jeremy Clayton allegedly fired several random shots in the Midtown neighborhood before ducking into the house where he lives.
Police said Clayton had driven a black car through the area, randomly firing the rifle. They said at least one bullet struck an occupied house a few blocks from his house at the intersection.
No one was injured during the ordeal, police Chief Phillip Garrett said."
"The rifle fires .223-caliber rounds, police said. Clayton never fired at police or other authorities, according to police spokesman Officer Eric Gallichant."
I didn't read that it was an EBR or assault rifle
